Record number of applicants. International applicant up 33%.

Ugh. Not exactly good news...

Of the 9,567 applicants, approximately 3,500 may be admitted and of those, roughly 1,200 will accept their admittance offers, ONeill said, adding that acceptance letters will be mailed out in late March.

ONeill said the dramatic increase is due to the Colleges recruiting efforts in places such as East Asia, Europe and several African counties that University recruiters visited for the first time during the last admission cycle, including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana and South Africa.

Okay, this parallels the old article I posted.

If I recall correctly, the EA admit rate was 41%, the question is how many of the 3500 were from EA. If one knew that, one could calculate the RD admit rate, which would have to be a bit lower than 36%. I believe the number who applied and were admitted EA was posted on this forum, perhaps by me...

Do you think if I point out their error with the word "pouring" in the picture's caption I'll have a better chance of being accepted?

This 36% rate does not bode well for me :(

haha, i dont think so

I wonder why bad things keep happening to me...

It's not so bad- 36% is still pretty high. You crazy kids will be just fine!

Yes, you say that comfortably in your already secured seat. With your women, and your jewels, and your sexy looks, and your.....other things to be envious about.

This is also a self-selecting pool.

it seems as though almost every school has increased admissions this year. It seems that more kids are trying for the top schools than last year. I would agree the 36% is not looking good for me. I am borderline and more applications and probably good ones in that is not a good sign for me.

I know. lord, it feels good!!
...but you will be fine. and in 1 month you'll be over on this side, too, and you won't even remember what it was like to wait.

why would you jinx me like that gambadent......now it is a complete impossibility.

I think I'll just withdraw my application.

fine- what would you prefer me to say?

Wow! That's good news! I'm happy to hear UChicago is getting to be more popular.

I think I'll just withdraw my application.

What happens when you withdraw? Particularly in regards to $$.

you lose $60..... and you live the rest of your life haunted by the ghost of discarded opportunities.

I was quoting Esquared...

Ghost of Discarded Opportunities

The back is um... Max P. or something... ^__^"

Having discarded more than enough opportunities myself I certainly don't recommend it. CC kids seem to do better than the average admit rate by a factor of at least two - I suspect that many more of you will be in than not. And if not - you are all intelligent and creative - and you will be in at somewhere wonderful next year.

Precisely.
