2007 no more USMMA versus USCGA Football Games

Does anyone know the reason the CGA is dropping off the Merchant Marine Academy football schedule next year? My boy was invited to meet the Mariners Coaches at the up coming Secretaries Cup next week, was surfing for info on the USMMA athletic site, that’s when he found out this info. You wouldn't know, would you Boss51?

Rep, I'm finding it odd that Boss isn't around these last few days. Could be his computer has blitzed on him or that he's taken up knitting. He would surely know the answer to your question & will hopefully be back online soon. I know that KP football is changing/or has changed conferences but can't recall the details. Made the hubby look in the past issues of the KP magazines we get to try & find the article that was written about it. We never did find it but I know I read that somewhere. Will keep looking. Its around here somewhere. Even though there is this change, not sure that they won't continue to play CG even though they're in different conferences. If I find the article, I will post back about it.

BOSS!? Where R U? Come out Come out wherever U R!

Ha ha I did have some computer problems...and gee I was on yesterday morning so it's not that long!

Anyway I think they will continue to play although both teams have gone into new conferences this year. It would be a shame if they stopped this one...already the "Little Army-Navy" game(CGA vs. Norwich) has been discontinued.

On the plus side CGA will be facing MMA in crew in two weeks at Mystic,CT. Also big matches in soccer and volleyball are coming up.

KP did not go into a new football conference. GC left the Liberty League.

KP joined a newly formed conference for all sports except football and wrestling.

I read what you are talking about the quote is: "No game can be taken for granted in the difficult Liberty League. The Mariners will look to improve on last season’s 2-5 mark in the conference, but with one less league game with the exit of the United States Coast Guard Academy. Susquehanna University will replace USCGA in 2007."

I think that is referring to Coast Guard being a non league team that league game will be replaced by Susquehanna. Beating Coast Guard will just not count in the league standings like it used to.
