Wow Northeastern is actually soaring. Meanwhile: poor SUNYs.

University affiliation in Canada does matter to some degree. I mean, one of the largest facebook groups at McGill is something like "We Go to the Best School in Canada!!" (and they're definitely pulling rank with that one according to the description, not just expressing school pride). That said, the prestige or rank of a given school is much less important there. I knew extremely intelligent people considering no-name schools over McGill or Queens.

By way of comparison, I would actually say (more by feel than actual status):
McGill = Harvard of Canada
Toronto = Yale of Canada
Queens = Princeton of Canada
UBC = Stanford/Berkeley

There are also a number of quality LACs in Nova Scotia that are the equivalent of Amherst/Williams et al.

Speaking about people judging about colleges...I took a Summer Course at Marist last Summer because my cousin went there and said it was really nice so I just decided to take a course there in Business Management to get a good grade on my resume and experience college (and business). Well we went to the Stock Exchange and met with this guy...he was the biggest snob and most pretentious person I have ever met. He acted like he was above us ALL. When some college kids came in to join the meeting he asked the 4 or 5 of them where they were from, and his tone changed depending on the college. "alright college" "snobby hm". "Northwestern" "oooo" "BC" "slight smile and nod" "Brown" "Full smile and full nod". I was just like WOOOOW get me outta here!!! Everyone noticed him and thought he was a total jerk.

Is there also a ranking for liberal arts MAJORS (English specifically) for universities? If so, can someone please by kind enough and post it? Thanks! :)

Northeastern (along with Tufts), was the only school who's peer assessment rating rose by .2. It changed from 2.9/5 to 3.1/5 this year. Peer assessment is the largest factor considered in the rankings. Tufts, even with the peer assessment rise, did not change in the overall rank.

Too bad that all of those are significantly worse than their American counterparts. McGill doesn't even have on-campus housing past freshman year, and the campus really sucks. If I were a Harvardian, I'd be insulted by the comparison. (And this is coming from a Yalie [!])

can somebody tell me why temple university is not on the list for top public universities? cuz it is alot better than alot of those on the list.

"I mean, one of the largest facebook groups at McGill is something like "We Go to the Best School in Canada!!" (and they're definitely pulling rank with that one according to the description, not just expressing school pride)."

LOL WOOOOW. I looked this up and you are COMPLETELY wrong. It is the opposite. Here's the description: "Everyone can join this group, unless you go to McGill, because that school sucks." lol k that was my post :)

Are you referring to the engineering peer assessment score?

Can somebody post all the stats for Emory and UNC-CH, including the SAT percentiles, selectivity rank, acceptance rate, and % of students in top 10%?
