Currently, the website only has 2007-2008 tuition & fees posted. I called today, and admissions & FinAid said they have been told to tell eveyone to use the 2007-2008 $$ info. It is not clear if tuition & fees will not be increased, or the new numbers are not out yet. Anybody have any other feedback on this issue ??

I guess i'm gonna be here all day until I hear from tufts, eh?

NorthEastMom2- Does your daughter have access to the admissions page on the website? At Northeastern University Undergraduate Admissions, there is a link on the right-side that says something along the lines of "check my application." Click it, and your daughter will have access to several acceptance documents, including her:

Acceptance Letter
Grants
Financial Aid

Click the financial aid one. It's a 3 page PDF with all the information.

If you cannot access this, I can post all the numbers if you'd like.

We do not have a fin aid letter yeat because of a documentation snafu. Looking at the NEU portal, I can only find last year's numbers. Do you gave new ones ?? (thx)

Sure, here you go:

Tuition: $33,320
Room + Board: $11, 510
Various Fees: $651 (fees like "Student Center Fee" and "Orientation Fee")
Estimated Billed Costs Total: $45,481

Then they say you should have $900 each for books and supplies, transportation, and personal. I think that might be a bad estimate though. I'm in Denver, so my transportation may be way different that someone who's already really close to Boston. In addition, I don't spend money. Ever. So 900 for personal over a year might be a bit much. I do, however, expect my books to be about 1500/yr.

So, 45,481 + 2700 = 48,181 per two-semester year.

Keep in mind that any merit money your daughter earned is capped at four years (ex. 12K can only be used up to 48k) so if she intends to take summer classes (and Northeastern kind of seems to expect you to) then the prices will not be aided by the merit money.

May I ask if your daughter is in honors? That may affect when you submit the $400 housing deposit. The process is first-come, first-served, and the honors housing is considered to be the best on campus.

Not in honors, but she got a dean's scholarship. Thx for the financial info.

Joel,

Good luck with Tufts !!! I hope you get in, and get a good $$ pkg.

We received an email saying that the tuition is going to go up by 5.8% if I remember correctly.

Thanks NEM2. I'm pretty sure that Tufts is more my "let's drive joel nuts with smart stuff" school and Northeastern is more of my dream school.

I have already put down both deposits at Northeastern. I'm fairly certain that it combines the academics I love with all the benefits of being at a big campus.

Congratulations to you as well. It seems as though Northeastern is becoming a world-class institution. I have a cousin there (a fourth-year) who says that her degree as a member of the class of 2009 is worth more than it would be if she graduated in 2008 and more than the people who graduated her freshman year.

Your daughter's acceptance is really a big accomplishment. Forget about honors, forget about this and that. It's a great school.

And, jai, I can't verify your information, but it wouldn't surprise me. Every school in colorado has just been allowed to increase tuition by 9 percent.

Joel,
I'm not sure I get your math on the merit money and summer classes. My understanding is that you get merit money for summer sessions too. So if aid is $12000 merit, you get $6000 for fall semester, nothing for spring or summer I because you are on coop and then $3000 for summer II (because you are only taking a half load of classes)..
What am I missing?
