Junior, gonna be a senior. Just signed up for classes for next year. Can't weird to be a senior!!

AP English Lit
AP Calc BC
Latin 4
Advanced Chem + AP Test (my school doesn't like the AP chem curriculum cause it isn't interactive enough, but they let us take the test).
Marine Biology
AP Physics C

I'm still bummed that we can only take six classes when some schools have like, eight. And they're likely changing the schedule the year AFTER I graduate so you can take more class. Oh welll!

Hmm... next years courses look something like..
(our honors classes are called accelerated :/)
AP Calc BC
Accelerated English III
Acc. Spanish III
Acc. Physics (planning on taking AP Physics senior yr)
American History II (APUSH is for losers :()
Principles of Christian Morality (s1) / Catholic Social Teaching (s2)

Electives: Intro to Technical Drawing (s1) / Int. Technical Drawing (s2) OR Astronomy

aeroengineer, that look like a pretty tough schedule but i will recommend you to take APUSH. it depends a lot on teachers but there are just so many resources for that class taht it will make it blowoff.

I have a really similar schedule to what you are planning on taking except I took physics as a sophomore and i have AP US history this year.
As for AP Language....lets just say english isn't my forte but i think that my writing has improved tremendously this year because of that course. The only reason i would say not to take it is if your absolutely despise writing.
i think for the BA BS/MD programs they probably look for applicants who are well rounded and have taken challenging courses in all subject areas not just science....those programs usually accept students from the top of the applicant pool
i want to apply to a combined degree as well.
good luck with your schedule

thanks pro and zfox.
yeah so i am pretty stressed out like just thinking if i could handle it u know. i dont want to look back and say i should have or should not have taken it. I am not the best writer, but i want to improve my skills so i want to take AP Eng Language. It might even help in the admissions essays?

The AP Gov class at my school is considered to be quite hard. Can someone who has taken it tell me a bit more about it? However, it is a one semester classs. The next semester i get to choose between AP Econ and regular econ. what is your guys suggestion on this?

Can someone help me out to decide whether to take AP Gov and AP Econ??

I am thinking about not taking AP Eng Lang and just sticking to the regular. Will colleges view this in a negative way? Will i be making a mistake not taking AP English Lang?

We just got next year's course booklets and a ton of new electives have been added, but Driver's Ed is not listed, which makes me nervous and wasn't something I was expecting. Hopefully they still offer it...

I'm happiest about the addition of a Philosophy course. I can't wait to take it!

Okay so im still sorta confused about my schedule because im addding a COOP job in there.....soooo PLEASE HELP.

i really want to go into a BS/MD program - sidenote

To be junior schedule:

English 11
Acc. Trig.
AP Gov./AP Econ
AP Chem
Honors Physics
Accounting (elective.........should i change it to like AP Psych and Comp Science?)

now my question is how well do u think I will be able to handle this?
should i drop the COOP or a hard class? or is my schedule not hard enuf and i should add AP Psych? will my GPA suffer? will i be killing myself? pleaseee help. so lost

How long would the coop be after school?
I had a similar and somewhat more challenging junior schedule and I managed it just well with 5+ hours of ecs a day. It's about how well you can handle your time and how much you actually want to take the courses.

my schedule this year junior year was:
honors english 3 (schedule conflict thing, took ap lang last year)
ap stat
spanish 3
ap physics c mechanics/electricity and magnetism
ap us history
ap calc bc
ap microeconomics (online)
ap art history (online)
pe (online)

and i dont spend more than 15-20 minutes a day doing work, except on weekends which i try to do all my online class work in an hour or two lol

classof09, i really wanna take all those courses and the COOP is 4 hours everyday afterschool. im not a good time manager when i have blowoff courses, but when exam times come around i get serious and disciplined. I guess i would have to carry that discipline the entire year then?

I would ask around how much homework the teachers generally give. Some of my courses that are considered very difficult (AP Chem, AP USH..) didn't have that much homework, while some courses (AP Bio, AP Lang) took hours each night. Teacher vary. Generally, I would do homework for 3-5 hours a night after I got home, and any free time I had was devoted to friends, family, and tv. Things work out when you have work to do and you know that you have to do it, but don't overwork yourself and burn out, you still have two years to survive ;)

icooufoo69, PE online?? And by PE, you mean physical education??
[/quote]

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has online PE classes. I'm taking Fitness Lifestyle Design over the summer. You're still supposed to exercise and all that jazz, you just have to get a parent to confirm.

I'm going to take AP Art History through FLVS, too.

classof09, the AP Chem teacher (my sister had him)- she said he duznt teach and thers hwk but like an hour at most daily to teach urself.

Honors Physics- the teacher gives a lot of hwk everyday - both my bro and sis had the same teachers that i will be having and i sort of know wut to expect.

AP gov- all tests takehome Ap econ- easy.

Eng, Trig, Accounting = blowoff.

COOP everyday 3-7 pm.

7-12 homework. Sounds good? No life? I might burn myself out? advice?

lol i am the most confused person ever. although most of the times im a pretty straightforward person but this stuff is getting at me.

there's been a change in my schedule...and awesome change!

Rising Senior:
AP Biology
AP English Lit.
AP Psychology
AP French Lang.
Anatomy & Physiology (spring)/Jazz Band (fall)
Ceramics I & II (the only thing left basically...lol)

and last but not least...
AP Calculus BC!!!!!

(My school only offers AB, but my gifted coordinator arranged my schedule so that I could take BC as an independent study with the AP Calculus Teacher...lol, I'll be the only one in the class).
