2008-2009 Housing Room Sign-Up Thread

To be honest, I've only familiarized myself with Cedar 3, Cedar 1, and Acacia wherever BoHa lives. Do you know the differences btwn all the De Neve plazas? Evergreen and Fir seem super quiet. I've only found myself in front of those buildings when I get lost ><

forget E/F. they're... soo isolated. at least C/D are connected to each other.

cedar is nice, really, the only diff between it and birch are that A/B lounges are so much better, and A/B have laundry on each floor while C/D has it on the lower level. also, A/B you don't have to go outside all weekend if you don't want to, since there's the dining hall/mailbox/computer labs all right there. not to mention P350 for some lectures! xD

so i'd recommend B, C, D. acacia maybe, but i liked birch better.

How were Acacia and Birch different?

And if De Neve's so nice, why RT?

How's Summit and RV? And I have no idea what Sunset's like.

ok here's my little run-down on housing.

acacia is really close to the de neve ORL, and the 3rd floor is broken up by the de neve arch thingamabob. plus it's just a slightly more awkward building. but that's minor. birch is its own entity, basically. i liked it, but i'm biased obviously.

de neve is nice, undoubtedly. and a double is cool. but i don't like the private bath as compared to a shared. you know my life story so you know why ;)

also, i like the location of other dorms better. i felt too isolated in de neve. barely went out to other parts of the hill. RT is close to rendezvous, closer to bcaf, closer to everyone who lives on the hill.

summit as a building is same as RT/RV essentially. just further. oh so dang far. doable for a year- not for two, IMO.

living in summit, i really like the high rise suites. the rooms are really spacious and the bathrooms are shared, and everything's newer than sunset.

sunset... i've been in delta terrace and courtside. don't love courtside, haven't heard rave reviews about it. DT seems a lot like de neve, but shared baths and super spacious lounges. very quiet, great location! no idea what canyon point is like.

sunset village feels like lala land...i wouldnt want to live there although the lounges seem pretty roomy and quiet, which i like for studying

i live in birch which i think is nicer than fir or evergreen (i think they smell funny; never been to cedar or dogwood) but unless the people you hang with are in birch or are nearby, it might be pretty lonely.

i'm pretty much reiterating what liyana said

When do the rates usually come out?

Different sides, Birch one more floor than Acacia.

De Neve is good, RT is excellent. The only downside to RT is that
it is further up the hill. And it might be louder because the turnaround there always has people loitering.

That's not why the floor is smaller. It makes the rooms a bit smaller, but there is the learning center on the other side, reducing about 5-6 rooms. Plus, the elevator that goes from 2-6 reduces a few more rooms.

precisely. acacia is just more awkward than birch, for numerous reasons xD

"RT is further up the hill." dude. i live in summit. for me, RT will be a very welcome change! plus now that rendez does breakfast (and a better breakfast than bcaf), it'd be so awesome to just have to go downstairs for some nice oatmeal.

so yah... i definitely want RT.
moldau, sign me up! ;)

Nah, Hitch beats all. There the walk up the hill AND the walk up three flights of stairs (no elevator).

That also makes carrying refrigerators fun.

Yep Jinobi sums it up. You simply can't beat Hitch in terms of walking. I happen to live in the farthest part of the Hitch too, so don't whine, Hedrick people.
Argz the pain. I hate Hitch so much. I'm going to try to move out next qtr.

Damn, liyana, you make some very good points. I wanna live in RT now :P

Are you going to go for RT instead of univ apts now?

IMO, rieber court is like the prime location on the hill. its central to everything.

yah i give up on the apartments. i have no one to live with anyway, and, i don't really wanna do that much cooking!

so come live in RT with us! :)

Anyone notice the male/female suitemate set up in some rooms in RT? :D

RT is pretty nice and it was the first building to fill up last year (or maybe Saxon?) but the cell phone reception is pretty poor, but slight better than RV.

meh. i figure if i'm in a single on the end, cell phone reception won't be too bad?

and wow grark you're right... what's up with the male/female thing? is that for real?

Which rooms?

Why do people prefer RT over RV? Aren't they pretty much the same thing? And they're right next to each other too..I don't get it...

for the simple reason that RT has rendezvous in it? and the singles are in a better location.

and RV is closer to rieber hall... which is gonna be under construction next year.

RT is newer

better cellphone reception than RV (that was our main reason anyways)
