So.......I've gotten 3 letters so far, each one advancing me.......what level am I on?

already...gosh....i would imagine one for local...one for district..and one for state...wow....that is fast man.....

I've still only gotten one. eeeeeeeeeeeehhh

actually......before I typed that I hadn't gotten my mail and......yeah today I got a fourth letter, this time from the state association itself, saying I've advanced to the national level! How many get to advance from each state? Like how many are in the national pool?

And I really do wish you guys the best of luck.

Wow! I'm still stuck at one, too... :S

Stuck at one as well, in NY Southeast District. Where are other stuck people? (and not stuck people, too?)

i only got one letter....but my local lodge said the district or state...i don't remember... will start to look at the beginning of march..so who knows...

I've gotten only one letter.

Does each district work at a different pace? And are you sent a letter if you DON'T advance?

My son recieved a leeter from the the New York Elks Association Chairman Thomas Karpinko which stated"

" The State Judging Commitee has reviewed your Elks National MVS App. While you were not among the top 25 State finaliasts, your application is still in the running to rcieve one of 60 NYS Allocated Awards.
There one year $1,000 acholarships can not be awarded until the Grand Lodge completes its judging. You will be notified somtime in May." Then it went on blah blah,, yadda, yadda, yadda.
He only recieved one letter from the local lodge saying his app. was forwarded to the district.

So he advanced up to state level.. with no other monies or notifications.. Geech ... New York State Elks what a bunch of tight wads especially coming from our region, among the wealthiest in the USA.

Heh, I feel your pain DadofMAR. The lodges here in God's Waiting Room (aka Florida) advance me through four levels and here I am still strapped for cash at the tail end of my spring break.

Haha but I kid. I'm not biting the hand that feeds, and I'm really grateful that I advanced.

This is proof that the scholarships on Fastweb can be worthwhile. =p

Finally....My D just called and said she received a letter today!! She said she will receive $1,000 non-renewable. Sure wish it was $1,000 for four years...but hey $1,000 is sweet!!!

Good luck to others!!!

Congratulations, txokmom! Just wondering, does your D go to OSSM?

I got a letter today with $1000 dollars too.

I guess it was a consolation for a very disappointing day scholarship-wise.

That's great Jenkster!! My D does not go to OSSM. She thought about it, but decided against it. We have only lived in OK for a couple of years.

I understand about disappointing scholarship days. My D is on the waiting for @ OSU for an Institutional Nominee Scholarship from OSRHE. She was one point shy of the 133 OSRHE. She is planning to take the ACT test one more time in April. Maybe this time.

Good luck to your D!

Scholarships are so unpredictable because they're all looking for so many different things. No one can predict what they'll like and not like. So does our $1,000 mean we're forwarded to the national level? I really hope so. Hopefully, one of the many scholarship programs out there will be favorable.

A letter from NY State? gasp That means...I should be getting one any day now...

Thanks for the updates to everyone who's posting them, by the way :)

i haven't rec'd anything from state, but it's only been a few days since judging ended. i'm contemplating calling cus i'm very curious

I just got a letter that I was forwarded to National Judging (from MI) and am guaranteed $1000/year!

so..i just had a awards dinner at my local elks and received $2000.... they said that the grand elks have 3 millions dollars and most of it is going to scholarship...

Jenkster - Have you found out anything about the national level? I know that my D and another girl from the same school each received $1000....so that sort of blows the one winner from each local, district, state, etc. I was just curious to see if you had found out anything more. Thanks!
