2008 Transfer... any advice?

I got into Columbia as a transfer this year for the class of 2011, and I've read tons of old threads on campus life and the social scene at Columbia. Anyone out there know what it's like as an incoming transfer (I'll be a sophomore next year)? I'm worried about all I've heard about unfriendliness, which would probably especially apply to transfers. Thanks for any help!

It won't be as bad as you think.

I'm in the exact same 3rd-semester-transfer-class-of-2011 boat as you and while I haven't conducted an in-depth thread search, I truly doubt that its the sea of unfriendly side-glares and hisses that some pretend it to be. I've visited and people were very talkative and approaching.

Plus we're going to be coming in with a sea of freshmen and I don't know about you but, I have quite a few core classes to take. Consider them a blank slate for everyone. It's not like 'transfer' or 'sophomore' is tatooed on our foreheads lol.

Classes, clubs, DORMS, it'll be pretty easy to meet people. I think people may like to pretend themselves 'tougher n meaner' than the rest because their ivy is in NYC lol but honestly you've seen one college's overall social dynamic, you've seen them all.

If anything you'll know one friendly person. :)

Thanks, LionHeaded! Haha-- same for me and core classes. That honestly does make me feel better about it all. See you next year!
