Ihave a long list i guess i'll take out some........

Um...I'm confused. Brown and RISD are sister schools, which means you could take practically any course at Brown if you got into RISD. So what's the point of getting into the more complicated Brown-RISD Duel Program? An extra degree from Brown wouldn't weight that much, right?

You can certainly take classes at Brown if you are enrolled in RISD -- and vice versa -- without being enrolled in the dual degree program. It can be complicated in terms of schedules, but my RISD student has done so, as have many of her friends.

how complicated is it to take risd classes while at brown? My D's first choice is RISD but also was thinking of Brown (sort of as a safety--hah!). Anyway, she heard from RISD kids that while technically they can enroll in RISD classes while at Brown, in reality many of the classes close out before they can take them, since RISD students get first dibs. Is this true? Anyone know?

My daughter is taking a class at Brown this semester. She got the class she wanted without a problem. She loves the professor and has been quite happy with the arrangement. She did have to go up to school a week early and will stay several days later for the final. But other than that there was no hassle. She can realistically take classes at an ivy. That was the one of the major perks of going to RISD, as far as I was concerned. Regarding the other direction (Brown to RISD), my daughter has had several Brown kids in her classes. You could go ask your question in the Brown Thread here.

--The thing about this page is people are just listing info, why not explain why we're just "hopefulls" and not the real deal already?
Mine is mainly money, art colleges are expensive and EXTREMELY competitive scholarship-wise, plus there's always the nagging that you're maybe not good enough.
Anyone know about any good scholarships or any opinions on the colleges I have up?

MICA and SAIC present significant scholarship opportunities. D goes to MICA, with approx. $20K in merit based scholarships anually. MICA scholarships reward both artisitic and scholastic achievement.

Tyler is a great choice if you are a PA resident.

I can't figure out for the life of me if SAIC has an architecture program. I see a department of Architecture and Interior Architecture. But no specific degree major. Can anyone else tell from the website?

From my understanding, SAIC does not have majors like most schools do. They have departments and concentrations, but it is an interdisciplinary school. Perhaps contacting the school would give you more information.
