2009 Fall Transfer to UCLA

Hi,

I'm a sophomore UNDERGRAD, Mass Media Communications major at NYU, transfering to UCLA for Communications in pursuit of my career as a host for a major entertainment channel. Would anyone care to chance me?

I have 2 concerns:

1) When I first applied to UCLA as a senior, I did not get in. Is my GPA at NYU good enough now and my EC's strong enough?

2) I plan to take Spring semester off mainly because of economic issues at home. I will have 72 credits by the end of Sophmore fall semester. I'm also working more next semester, taking on more hosting jobs and small roles in shows, etc. Do you think this would jeopardize my chance of getting into ucla?

Any advice would be great!!

you have good extracurriculars but a 3.5 gpa from an out of state university to a communications major is not good enough for ucla. from community college's they recommend 3.8, let alone an out of stater.. good luck though

I think you have a decent shot.
Your ECs will make you stand out when compared to the CC kids who have nothing spectacular to show that they are interested in their major.

I ditto the previous posters. Your extacurriculars are nothing short of amazing, but your gpa is low and the school you attend is not given first priority in admissions. However, ther are always a few exceptions that get accepted, I think if anyone is to be that aberration, it is you.

Based on your GPA, I'd say your extracurriculars would have to be ridiculous for you to even have a chance. But since your extracurriculars are actually crazy-good I'd say you might as well give it a try. It's still a very serious long shot but, like everyone's said, it's worth a try, you do have a small chance.
