2009 MAY AP scores..how was the curve?

I agree with jamesford. The AP exam curve will not change much.

From what I recall reading around the time I took my Calc AB and Psych exams, getting about 70% of available marks should let you squeak by for a 5. However, I like to play it on the safe side and get more than that. Fingers crossed for when the results come in the mail… :X

One thing’s for sure: These AP Exams are a hell of a lot tougher to ace (i.e. 90%+) than the normal exams I take.

dd took gov (5) and Eng (4)…surprised because she felt really unprepared for the free choice in gov and felt good about English…needed the 5 in gov to get credit but only a 4 in english for credit so go figure!

i ended up getting a 4 on my ap test and i didnt even write one of the essays basically. so i guess the curve is very generous

The curve is always going to be generous.

Think about it: 67% on most AP tests is equivalent to an A (5) while you would generally need 90+% for an A on the typical HS exam.

What is the bio curve like? How many m.c. right for a 5? I think i did well on the essays except for 2 parts of different questions. I think i skipped like 13 m.c. so i didn’t get 1/4 point off.

yes…AP CHEM was so effing hard…we have an excellent teacher and some very intelligent students…ugh…so much hard work for a year…and a killer test

How’d you guys get your scores already? Were they mailed to you or did you have to call in?

good to hear the english curve is generous lol

they started mailing them this week. they start from the west coast to the east so it depends on where you live

4 in bio…is that good? I was a sophmore when I took it last school year.

West to East, huh?

Waiting here in the Midwest…

Going out of town Sunday…

I’m in Vancouver, so I wonder when they’ll arrive…

Probably sometime in the next week. crosses fingers

Redmondo

i am in vancouver
last year they came around 16th or so for me…
not too long

I took Calc AB, US History, Lit/Comp, Lang/Comp, Chinese, Chem, and Bio, and I got all 5s.
I felt like the curves on Chem and Bio were probably pretty generous this year, because I had felt the least confident after taking those two out of all of my tests. But then again, I did study pretty hard for both, and I haven’t compared scores with my friends yet, so maybe I was just in post-test shock at the time.

Has anyone gotten a 5 in Calc BC without really doing the last problem (taylor series) correctly?

Hi there,

I’m in Toronto and I got my results on the 10th. But it may take longer for Vancouverites since you guys are farther west.

I felt the Bio and Chem beltcurves were very generous too. I remember not answering at least 15 questions on the M/C for Chem, yet I still got a 5.

I heard the US curve was good this year. but i didnt take it so im not sure

catalan, then you must have done really really well on the free response part ;)

I called because I just couldn’t wait. I took English Language (5), USH (5), and Bio (4). The bio curve must have been insane because I honestly didn’t learn anything all year and got a 4. And I left a lot blank on the multiple choice, so I got really lucky.

Personally, I don’t know about the rest of you, but on the AP US History one, the DBQ was totally killer. I opened up that page and totally spaced. Slavery… Well, it was one of the hardest prompts because I couldn’t do my standard formatting. But I still got a 5 :D
