2009 McKelvey Foundation

It's spread out over the four years. The e-venture trip was so much fun. All the applicants who won, as well as past years winners all come together for a few days. You network with all of the winners and just meet everyone and find out what they have done. Also guest speakers come and talk to you about different topics. As well there is some team building exercises. Its great to meet with all the other winners, and I am still in contact with some and working with them on projects.

Matt, Thanks for sharing!

how advanced were some of the businesses, how competitive?

one more week, i am dying to get the email, yet i am afraid of the result.

ICFIREBALL AND DAIRY10! my buddies from the coca cola forum haha. how are you all doing. i started laughing when i found this forum and saw you both applied to this scholarship as well. If i remember correctly, Dairy won the coca cola scholarship. Congrats man, thats a great accomplishment. I wish you both the best of luck with the upcoming decision from the Mckelvey Foundation. What kind of businesses or non-profit organizations do you have?

Business -- web design and development. I've actually had a boom of business prospects lately... I'm potentially taking on five new clients, although some projects will likely be deferred till summer. I'm excited to hear from McKelvey and good luck to everybody else who applied! What is your business/NPO? If you don't mind me asking, how much profit does your business make (if it's for-profit)?

Does anyone know the exact date when we find out? Do the qualifiers only get notified or does everybody get a response? Best of luck!

I have student tutoring business. Im not sure about those who don't move on, but the finalists will be notified tomorrow through email. My monthly net profit fluctuates....this is not of much importance to the Mckelvey Foundation as they are not out to give money only the the students whose business makes more, but rather to which person demonstrates more of an entrepreneurial spirit.

Right, I also thought the profit wasn't all that important, I was just curious about the scale of other people's businesses. How do you KNOW we find out tomorrow through email? Everything I saw was pretty general... "3-4 weeks" or something like that.

I KNOW its tomorrow because they told me on the phone that they were planning to let us know tomorrow. :) good luck. i guess its today now.

Alright, thanks. Good luck. It's too bad I had to know I find out tomorrow. It seems like every time I know when I'm going to get some news, it's bad. Sigh :-)

G'luck to you!!

Hey guys, my wooden flower business didn't make it T_T....
....... this really sucks... I can't study abroad anymore...

Well, my heart goes out to all of you guys who qualify for the next level and also to those who lost.
Good luck everyone in college and in the competitiion.

Haven't gotten anything yet. Did you get an email?

i dont know about you icfireball, but i really hope that no news is good news. I havent heard anything either

Well, didn't get the scholarship ... also good luck to everyone out there who have advanced!

maybe the ones who will advance will get them later...

ICFIREBALL: have you or anyone else heard anything?

yep i got an email... sadly

Im nervous because I haven't heard anything, and I felt like they would notify the winners first.

Getmywayjay: still no word. So hopefully this is a good thing.

Well, tomorrow is March 2nd. That means that we should find out by tomorrow. Again, good luck to those of us who have not found out yet. I'm sorry about those who did not advance. It is a very competitive scholarship that over 1,000 people apply for. It won't measure your future success as long as you are determined to succeed.
