2009 OOS Merit Aid status

I am going to start a new thread, as the previous one is a couple of years old.

Have any of you recently received any Merit Aid letters yet? I spoke w/ Admissions and it sounded like they were mailed recently, or wll be soon. Curious as to the aid numbers.

Nope. I am in the Northeast

My D got an initial OSS waiver with her acceptance letter way back in November. We are also hoping for more Merit aid. Guess we just keep waiting.

Thanks. Interesting, they keep saying wait until April...

gymmom2007 sent you a PM, don't know if it went out though.

So, is it more adventageous to wait until the letter with possible merit aid comes, or should we accept and pay the deposit? If you accept earlier than the letter comes out, is that a flag to them saying you don't need/want the $$?

Hi XC09 my D goes to CU already, I checked & she got her FA letter about first week of April. Will your D run XC for CU? If so she will likely live in Lightsey with the team. So her place in housing will be taken care of. I don't think holding out matters at CU though- its really based on your academic stats which won't change at this point.

Momasita, yes D will run for CU, and she's excited beyond belief. I agree with your theory, however another thread mentioned a similar situation at another school where they 'saved' merit scholarships for the one who actually committed. ugh.

My theory did not apply to Clemson, they seem to really use a defined approach to merit aid, I don't think as an OSS that waiting will change much- unless you have some carrot that you have not shared? Also my D ran xc her first year.

Also SC residents are being turned away with 1250 SAT's FWIW. Was she offered an athletic scholarship?

No athletic scholarship, and that's okay. Just happy to run!
