2009 PSAT Scores and Discussion

My son’s GC told me yesterday that my sophomore got a 231. She said that’s the highest she has seen at our school to date (15% of this year’s class made semifinalist at this school). Is there any way to find out how many people scored that high nationally or in our state? I was just wondering if we could determine what percentile (beyond 99) that would put him in.

and you need to know that why??? be thrilled with it and forget about 99.999th percentile!

tquenn, there is a SAT score frequency chart that indirectly gives exact percentiles. Based on the notation they used (when they switched to 99+ instead of 99), I analyzed a PSAT percentile chart a few months ago that differentiated between 99 and 99+.

Based on some interpolation, a 231 is probably around a 99.83.
