Yeah so uh. My parents finished the dislocated worker application and sent it in about a week and a half ago, and it says the status for 2010-11 FAFSA Received under my To-Do list is "complete" but there's no available financial aid awards yet?

About how long does it take after mailing the app for me to receive the offer, and I heard somewhere that you have to accept any offer BEFORE May 1st?

And I'm wondering if there should even BE a "2010-11 FAFSA Received" in the To-Do list. There's nothing else in the list besides that, so I'm not sure if I still have to do anything. :S

The May 1 deadline is for submitting your SIR (if you’re a frosh). I have not seen a deadline for accepting financial aid. At least nothing even remotely close to a May 1 deadline.

Was all the requested information submitted by or before April 15? If so and you have yet to receive your package, you can call UCSC financial aid office to request an update as to the status of your package. There’s only today, Thursday, and Friday left to call and talk to them before the acceptance of your offer of admission deadline.

I’ve already submitted my SIR, and the requested app was sent on the 21st.

I put a request for a return reciept that was signed by the UCSC post and sent back to me – so I know they received it, but I’m just wondering how long it takes for that to be reviewed since I don’t have an offer yet.

The dislocated worker app was taken off the to-do list and the 2010-2011 FAFSA Received status was changed from Received to Complete. :S

I just stopped by the FA Office today. They are very swamped trying to get packages together.

So you sent in all the documents after the April 15th deadline, yes? I’m not surprised you don’t have your package yet, then. However, did the request for the supplemental materials come in on or after April 15? That would be a little different.

Anywho, if you already submitted your SIR, I wouldn’t sweat it. There is no deadline to accept a package. At least not one that’s listed on the website that I’ve seen. And obviously if you don’t have your package yet, you can’t accept it ;). If you’re really concerned, call the FA Office. But I don’t think you have anything to worry about right now.
