lucky…i guess the international FRQs was a lot harder…

My son also took the test, he was not very happy about his test.
He said MC part was easy; he finished it and had time to check it out.
But he say FRQ were hard, he finished all but did not have time to check them.
From what he told me, I figured he could be easily get around 80 points. Does that give him a 5? He was freaking out after the test, because in his any test he never had a situation he could not check it out at least once.

A couple of notes:

(1) It is highly doubtful that they’ll ever release the score needed for a 5 on this year’s exam. They do this on a five-year cycle when they release the exam only, and they’ve already done this for the 2008 exam. It would be surprising to see the 2010 exam released.

(2) While I have not yet seen the questions, the responses in this thread are some of the mildest I’ve seen in threads on CC since I’ve been on it. I would expect the cut score for a 5 to be approximately the same as the 2008 cut score.

(3) Somebody mentioned the multiple choice multiplier. By default, it’s 1.2. In 2008, they actually discarded the results of multiple choice question #19 as they found that it had a poor correlation with actual success on the exam. That’s why the multiplier for that particular year was 54/44. I’d never seen that before, however, and I wouldn’t expect it again.

Good luck to all of you on your scores.

I thought the whole exam was really easy. Does anyone know if you get any special bonus or something for acing ap calc ab? Is there anything to differentiate a perfect 5 from a borderline 4 kind of 5?

There is nothing of that sort.

can you have different curves for international and the US?

best

I just realized…we can talk about the frqs tomorrow!

I finished around 12 p.m. est…does that mean I can post before someone in CA, or do I have to wait 48 hours after all time zones have finished?

YEPPIE!
tmrw.

ps collegeboard actually posts the FRQs.

SEE YALL LATA!

Yeah, collegeboard will put the questions online tomorrow.

Let’s wait…

I remember my teacher had the statistics for raw scores for 2 years of tests on the board, but I cannot recall what exactly is a 5…should’ve written it down But I think 66 would be cutting it very close, it all depends how high or low the curve is this year.

OK. Does anyone know the actual curves from past years as a fact? Or does CB not produce that data?

Lord haha FR was INSANE lol
I thought MC was pretty easy though…I think I got like a score of 40 out of 45
If I did sucky on FR…but maybe got an average of at least like 3 or 4 points on each question…could I still get a 5?? My teacher told me like 3 times that I would get a 5…she was sure of it hahaha
but I just don’t wanna let her down lmao
I’m prettty confident on the MC though…like big time hahaha
FR sucked though :S

“(1) It is highly doubtful that they’ll ever release the score needed for a 5 on this year’s exam. They do this on a five-year cycle when they release the exam only, and they’ve already done this for the 2008 exam. It would be surprising to see the 2010 exam released.”

Couldn’t you approximate this by looking at the averages on frq, the percents who scored fives, and calculating z-scores? I’m guessing it is a much more complicated process but it seems like it can be reverse engineered.

^ almost same for me, too…hope you and I get a 5 :)

was that at me? hahaha
Thanks!! I hope we do too! Lol
I bet so
I mean if EVERYONE sucked on the FR…which seemed to be the consensus on here and it DEFINITELY was among all of the people from my school…the “curve” should put us at 5
Let’s just hope! lol

^ That’s definitely not the consensus. Quite a few people thought this year’s FRQ were much easier than those of past tests or at least of similar difficulty.

hmmm everyone on here said they were pretty hard…lol
but I guess it’s whatever hahaha
I mean some of the FR weren’t unheard of lmao
but at least half of them were definitely challenging…as I knew they were going to be haha
but I mean they weren’t just challenging for me…they were for everyone…and I highly doubt they were any less challenging than years before…I’ve seen last year’s actually! and I think they were pretty comparable lol

and I guess I shouldn’t have put everyone in all caps lmao! I mean of course there are some that did welllllll on it…I’m just saying in general hahaha

I felt that the FRQs this year were fairly easy compared to some that there have been in past years. It seemed like everything was more straightforward than some of the other FRQs I practiced with. I will get into more of the specifics of why I thought they weren’t too bad, once the 48 hours is up.

^ Exactly my sentiments.
