2010 AP United States History Discussion

we can’t talk about the specific questions for 48 hours

@xks4892
for a decent score you are supposed to use all of the documents…

@ sd6 OH YEAH! I loved that one, because we learned about in english!

Oh 48 hours? wasn’t aware of that, sorry:)

lol, no problem, it just would be no fun if the collegeboard cancelled any of our scores. I have to say, the review we had just yesterday after school here helped me on like 5 questions. Totally random, had to say that, haha

I used six of the documents… I really hope that doesn’t hurt my score.

Lol tech me too! I got at least 10 answers from reviewing that I wouldn’t have known. Someone even predicted one of the FRQs… I took his advice and studied that stuff for 20 mins xD.

Is this post defying the rules o_O?

How many pages should the responses be?

^ 2-3 is good. But its not really about length. Quality over Quanitity!

haha, you didn’t say what the prediction was, you should be fine :p

There’s no set page limit/minimum, but if your essays aren’t longer than, say, a page, you’re probably lacking something. I wrote 3 full pages for all three essays (DBQ and FRQs)

it was really kind of funny, we had a presidents quiz, where we had to fill out a blank sheet of paper with all the president’s names, their political parties, their election dates, their years served, and 3 things they did in each term of their presidency. By 5:00 (yes, after school) our teacher was pretty much just giving us answers and it turned into more of a group effort than a quiz, but it helped me more than any single thing I’ve done in that class all year!

lol last night I didn’t really feel like studying or anything since there’s not too much you can truly learn the night before the test, so I watched youtube videos for like 3 hours of this guy giving a lecture to an AP US History class. And I thought he was going to talk about all the chapters in the textbook, but it was basically all on early America/colonialism up until 1800. So I was so happy when I saw the DBQ, because I had just watched 3 hours of lecture on that kind of stuff the night before.

I thought the MC were fair, although I know I already got some stupid questions wrong. The other frqs were alright too. Not too hard, but not totally easy either.

Feeling an 80/80 MC. The one I was unsure about I confirmed correct via web search immediately after the test.

^ serious?! You genius. Ehh I’ll be happy with a 3. My teacher didnt teach crap all year and we never took a practice FRQ essay. And the DBQs we did she graded them so retardedly. I wrote a DBQ for homework one time (3 pages long) and turned it in. She gave me a 1 and told me to fix it up… so I reprinted the same exact copy and turned it in the next day. She gave me an 8.5… LOL

Haha, nice tech! This test was pretty fair. Just hope the curve is not too harsh. I hope 72 for a 3?

72 composite? that’s a harder curve than the US curve I’m using from just a few years ago. or is that 72 multiple choice score?

72 is the essays and the multiple choice. I don’t know anything about US history scales haha. I just saw on collegeboard.com they gave an example of the scoring for 2002 AP US history and to get a 3 it was 72… but I don’t know if that was a harsh curve or not o_O. So what should a 3 be this year?

haha, have you not used [AP Pass - AP Us Calculator](AP U.S. History Test Score Calculator - AP Pass) ?

"I loved one MC with a picture. Everyone complained about that because they hadn’t learned it… I don’t know how to say it without giving it away. I’ll just say red liquid. "

Everybody I spoke with, including someone taking AP Art History right now, got that one wrong! I thought it was such a freebie.

The DBQ. My teacher had told us that it was supposed to be like 60% outside information, and the documents were only supposed to be “little red flags to jog our memory”, not like in Euro when we had to talk about point of view. Do you think it’ll have a harsh impact if I didn’t really talk about the documents themselves, and only kind of cited them in sentences related to what they were talking about? If any of that made sense.

Yea I have, but we don’t know how accurate the scales are. For example I took my AP Calculus exam on Wednesday and I used that calculator also for it. It says that the cut-off for a 3 is 40 points. But on the 2008 AP Calc exam the real cut off for a 3 was 34 points… 6 points is a big difference.

It says its a 68 for a 3 but I’m not sure how accurate that is :P

??why am I the only one who thought the mc was hard?:frowning: I read the questions thought, I know this then looked at the answers and drooled. Sigh. And all the documents? My teacher never did a single graded Dbq or frq so n had no idea. I used all except one (or maybe 2?) so that calculator is accurate?? I can miss 15 question, skip5 and get two 7s and a 5 on the essays and still get a 5? I feel like that’s way too lenient. Anyone have a calculator for ap lit ?

Im feeling 75/80 or higher. Certainly no lower than 70/80. FRQ 1(Number 2) was awesome. FRQ 2 was, eh (Number 5). I mean I just had to use a lot of common sense, not so much what I had learned in class but I feel I did decently on that one as well. Only one I’m scared as crap about is the DBQ! PM me if u want to talk about something (not saying what) :P
