2010 AP United States History Discussion

yeah it was the pivotal battle which caused the ____ to join the ____ and i gave a lot of details and stuff so wel see. but if i legit bsd the 2nd part of my 2nd essay but destroyeeeeed the 1st part what do u think will happen. maybe the reader will be tired by the end and not really notice?

if you described it correctly, but named it incorrectly, they’ll likely let it slide off. even 8-9 essays are allowed to have minor errors. yeah, unless you have been having your essays graded to AP standards, don’t assume you’ll be getting above a 5 or 6, possible of course, but AP essays are quite harder to get good scores on than a standard english class

Well I thought the dbq was good until I realized u have to have 60 percent outside info and use all the docs. I know my last frq sucked ( so I’m afraid to say but… Maybe a four… Eeeek) bug I pled my second frq

Well I thought the dbq was good until I realized u have to have 60 percent outside info and use all the docs. I know my last frq sucked ( so I’m afraid to say but… Maybe a four… Eeeek) but I liked my second frq

Sry . Apparently I can’t type on my iPod :)

You should be happy with a 4! That’s great. And you said you’re teacher didn’t even teach so good job man

We had to use all of the documents? How much does it count off if you didn’t use one… My teacher always told me to aim for at least half.

Whoever said you need to use all of the documents is wrong.

Here’s an example of the scoring rubric for a APUS exam: <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;

The first question is the DBQ, and it clearly says that an 8/9 should “Effectively uses a substantial number of documents.”

No you don’t. 5-6 out of 9 documents is a good amount to use according to my teacher, who has been an APUSH exam grader for 10 years now. Using 9 just to have them in the essay is pretty stupid, 5-6 well implemented documents is much better.

A four overall or on the nine pt essay rubric? Hey do one of u guys know stuff about the ap lit exam too? Y’all have been really helpful ;)

what I heard is for Euro, you’re supposed to use half plus 1, but for US you’re supposed to try to use almost all, there wasn’t a specific number, but the high scoring essays usually have them all

is this wrong? my teacher grades AP essays too, but I might be slightly misquoting her

missing just one shouldn’t be a problem in either situation

Without giving any specifics, how much oi is generally enough?

What classifies as OI? Introdutory material, or what?

Every example 9 DBQ response I’ve seen uses either 5 6 or 7 documents.

hmm, well then I guess I was wrong about that. Thanks for the clarification!

I think I might have done enough for a 5, it comes down to my essays though. All I did was review the REA Crash Course and pay attention in class (sometimes). The MC, I’d say 65 right, 8 wrong, 7 blank. DBQ was really bad, I didn’t know too much and had to BS some of it. I picked FRQA-2 and owned it. FRQB-1, couldn’t remember too much about anything on those ideas, but I think I put together something decent. Hoping for a 5, expecting a 4.

Yes Jersey 13 and others regarding the number of documents to use in the DBQ. My teacher has been an AP grader for eight years now and told us all year to take the number of documents, divide by two, and add one. He says occasionally college board will even throw in documents that are irrelevant or present a weak correlation to the question just to trip you up.

Hmm how does the APUSH DBQ compare with the APWH DBQ? Last year, I just analyzed documents on the DBQ. I generalized, no specifics, on the other 2 essays. ONe question was about attitudes of whites toward blacks or something… All i wrote about was that they were racist. I passed with a 3 lol… so I’m hoping for the same scaling this year? o_O

I don’t think college board deliberately picks documents that are completely irrelevant; some parts may be irrelevant, but there should always be some useful information in there.

HELP!
on the essays do they take points off for not included your examples in your thesis?
my thesis was basically a restatement of the question being asked…none of them were argumentative/challenge type of essays…more like analyze type.
will i get points off for this??

Me too wahkimoocow
