QNYergrl, yeah i check mine 9th period every day and at night too, but um must be a NY thing, I hope b/c we live in NY it won't take forever to mail our decisions. I called and they said that they hadn't made a decision on my app yet (I was deferred) and that they are mailing them all out on Friday, so as a NYer it will prob be next week in the mail. I hope it is on WA sooner though, at this point i'm assuming either rejection or deferral if they haven't decided on me yet, I wonder if this year anyone will get in off the waitlist like after May 1st? any thoughts?

Although they said all decisions are made, that may not be true for Music because they just had their last round of auditions.

yeah they definately aren't all made even for like LSA and regular admissions either, as I said they haven't decidied on mine, that gives them tomorrow to decide and Friday to mail, they are really down to the wire on decisions I think. Hopefully they post online by Friday, otherwise WA is a waste of life.

Well, I guess this leads us to: Who told you that decisions were not made for LSA?

when I called they told me mine was not decided, so no one can argue that "the decisions have been made" already for everybody at this point, since well mine is still not decided on, that provides an exception... though I'm guessing most have been decided for accepted ppl, I bet I'm on the waitlist if they haven't accepte/ rejected me yet that must be it.

a waitlist IS a decision.

they didn't say I was on the waitlist, they said there WAS NO DECISION MADE. I just said I assumed that I was on the waitlist because I wasn't decided on earlier. Gees, don't go in CAPS if don't know what you are talking about.

I'm saying I prob will be on the waitlist, but now my file has not been decided upon/mailed and won't be until Friday when they do their mass mailing. Just trying to set the record straight, yours may be decided, but some are not even today.

For the record, sometimes UMICH doesn't make a decison - this means you have been waitlisted. They can make a decision NOT to make a decision (which is making a decision to waitlist you).

But they will have to notify you of the waitlist, and wheter or not you want to accept the spot, right? I mean they can't not give us a decision by May 1.

Accepting a spot for the waitlist is pointless. It is virtually impossible to get in through the waitlist.

If you're going to be extended a spot on the waitlist, you WILL get a letter, and you WILL have a chance to say yes or no. No one with a completed application should be left hanging.

The "no decision" mentioned above would be, during the regular admissions season, a deferral. But to my knowledge, Michigan does no routinely leave some group of applicants hanging without ever telling them anything.

Something else some of you don't seem to understand is that Michigan is a big place. They don't decide and then send the decisions out five minutes later. They can decide one day, run the appropriate computer decisions to sort people out into the right categories the next, and then mail/post the decisions the next. So generally speaking, when decisions go out Friday, the decision was arrived at earlier in the week.

i'm pretty sure it said on the deferral letter if they would tell you or not, but i'm not sure.

My Decision JUST came up online. I got F-ing waitlisted after being deferred.....
I guess i'll be going to UIUC engineering then......

We have carefully reviewed your application to the University of Michigan. At this time, we are unable to offer you a place in the term for which you have applied. Please know that this decision is the result of the competition for spaces rather than a reflection of your ability to succeed in college. It is possible that space may become available after the enrollment deposit deadline of May 1 has passed. If you choose, you may remain on our wait list for available spaces. You may accept or decline our offer to be placed on the wait list by clicking "Respond Now" to complete your decision. Please respond to our waitlist offer by May 15th.

You are now placed on the University of Michigan's wait list. If you are granted admission, we will contact you. In June, you will be notified of your status on the wait list.
