2010 Official AP English Language and Composition

^
exactly…such a paradox
the hardest exam to pass, yet the least amount of time is spent studying for it…

This subject is notorious for being the most difficult exam to pass?

^
yup
out of all the APs, it always comes down to AP Eng Lang and AP US History

Well that’s not too appeasing.

Huh. AP US History is considered one of the hardest? That seems weird to me, because its a sophomore level class at my public high school, about 60 kids take, average score is about 4.5. It might be the teacher I guess?

^
It’s a ton of facts, dates, and other stuff to memorize.
And if you take the test sophomore year, your school/teacher are pretty smart because most people take the 2 year course in APUSH.(give it in Jr yr, but start in Soph)

And this is what I’ve generally heard at my school. It could be different at other places.

For English, anybody want to attempt to guess what the essay topic will be? I just hope they’re really cliche. Like PR has something like ‘do wrongs in history change over time’ which is pretty good.

Wouldn’t a language test be more difficult? I suppose that it varies amongst individuals.

If you’re talking about a foreign language test, it would indeed be difficult. Spanish and French–lol, I laughed when I saw that the directions were in those language. For Japanese and, I think, Chinese, directions are in English, but you have to converse in those languages for the FR.

Haha, I’m not sure if I want to take a foreign language test next year now.

Lol, but i will–Japanese Language and Culture Exam. Sadly, there’s barely anyone on here who going to take the exam and CC forbids use of another language to post, but at least I have friends who taking the AP class with me.

Most people in the english classes have received 4’s or 5’s without much preparation at all, and our teachers are not good.

^^You’re taking Japanese instead of French or Spanish? That’s intriguing.

Yeah, I thought I would do better in Japanese since I’m Asian, and apparently it worked or that I was interested in learning the language. It was one of the best choice I made since I became more interested in the culture, which encompasses anime, J-pop, and especially the Nintendo video games.

I didn’t choose Spanish because it is too common and for French, it seems hard to speak. I would like to learn Latin since I consider it as a language for scholars because of, you know, the humanists of the Renaissance.

I wouldn’t mind learning Chinese or Japanese, but I’m content learning Spanish. It might be beneficial if I want to acquire a job somewhere in California.

I have a test for AP English and Composition and I will trade one for AP Calculus AB from the 2000-Present or AP US history.

In my class, we’ve read books all year done few multiple choice questions and have only written one of the three essays… And might i add that for the MC section, the highest score out of all of my teacher’s classes was a 30/53… I got a 27…
Wouldn’t she realize that its not us who are the problems, if everybody can’t get passed a 60…
We’re all going to fail!

^ my class is like that

except for this one kid who’s insanely good at English/history but only okay with math…he gets nearly perfect scores…

^^
My class is the same…I’m pretty sure half the MC ends up being a guessing game.

Also does anyone know whether essay length correlates to essay grade like on the SAT/ACT? I’m wondering whether I should write really big or not in order to fill up more pages.

SAT/ACT-graders are not scrupulous.

AP - graders who in a large room grading papers. Moreover, there’s is a table leader and head coordinator to monitor the exam grading. So, graders are more scrupulous with how you write: content and style.

does anyone have any released ap english language exams? (other then the audit 2007 and 2001)
