2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

I received a phone call from Yale around Dec15th. They said they will be sending emails out within two weeks with more details.

Did anyone receive an email yet??

@ biochimie
I did, but the program secretary told me my application was going to be evaluated in Jan. (I am an int’l applicant).

Is Berkeley MCB done sending out invites?

shannonista

i called yale yesterday and the admin said that they will be meeting this Friday. so hopefully we will hear from next week. I applied to pharmacology programs. not sure if this is true for all.

Just got a call from Yale for an interview (neuro) Feb 25-27th. Thanks ‘mom’ for keeping me calm during the wait.

Hi bioquest

Im also applying for evolutionary bio programs in Princeton, UChicago, Yale, Stanford, Harvard, UArizona, Uindiana, Duke, NYU, Cornell, UMich. Im international and I have heard nothing yet as well. Iam really worried like you but I think we may need to wait a bit more longer.

You’re welcome, RDWRER – and congratulations!

given that there is limited funding for international students, i think the adcom will be making decisions about us after they have secured admissions for domestic applicants. dont’ worry too much, gerrybio, good news is on its way…

Interview for Yale BBS (neuroscience) - got a phone call. Rockefeller will be sending out decisions shortly.

neurograd1, congrats on yale! how did u hear about Rock? do u know how the decision will be communicated (email, call)?

Has anyone heard anything about Northwestern IGP?
I haven’t even had my application status confirmed as complete yet (and that, according to the coordinator, would be done by e-mail). Is anyone in the same situation?

@hamster 09:
I think we applied to a large number of overlapping schools/programs!

@RIO2016:
I haven’t heard anything from Northwestern yet. I did receive an email on Dec 8th that my file is complete and has been forwarded for review.

Thanks! I’ll do something about that.

Interview invitation today from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities! (March 4th-7th)

For the first two years of undergrad, I was an English major. As much as I love neuroscience, that taught me that interests can shift, so–whenever there was a particularly attractive umbrella program–I applied to that instead of to the straight neuroscience track (especially since all the faculty I were interested in working with in neurobiology were also in the CMB program).

I got the e-mail from Dr. Bejsovec.

I don’t think this is true… I’m an international student studying in US… I got an interview call from WashU DBBS around the same time as domestic applicants…

I don’t mean to discourage anybody… Just saying that they review domestic and international students on par and simultaneously…

Those who haven’t heard from them yet, just means that the department (under the DBBS) hasn’t sent out its invites yet or they will soon hear good news in the next wave of invites…

Update - Applied: UCSF, UCSD, Northwestern IGP, U-M PIBS, Stanford, Weill Cornell, UMD-Baltimore, UVA, Baylor, UT-Southwestern, U-Penn, Hopkins, Mt. Sinai
Interview Invites so far: U-M PIBS(2/11), Baylor(2/4), U-Penn (1/14), UVA (1/28 tentative), UT Southwestern (not sure if I want to attend)

I havent heard from Northwestern IGP as well! I didnt even get an email about my file completion. Maybe I should call or email about the status.

Has anyone heard from Weill Cornell Molecular Bio Program yet–my file’s been complete since too long.

well, that’s terrible news…

So looking at last year’s thread, Rockefeller sent out acceptances as early as 1/6 (postmarked).

This might not mean anything, but hopefully it does and we’ll start hearing soon. Anyone talked to or heard from them lately?

TcellDude:
Someone up-thread posted that Berkeley’s MCB admissions committee met once in December and will meet once in January. So there should be another wave of invites soon.

I received an interview invite from Wash U DBBS!

Phone call from Yale (Neuroscience)-- Invited to interview! Trying to remember how to breathe.
