2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

did anyone here apply to harvard’s biological sciences in public health program? and if so do you know if they have sent out invites already or when they plan to do so?

molbio,

that was fast! didn’t you submit your faculty list this morning?! congrats!

I know! I got the call less than two hours after submitting my list; I don’t think they even knew I had received the email yet.

Congratulations molbio! what department are you? Mol Cell Bio?
I wish mine was that fast. I got that faculty list email almost like 2 month ago and still haven’t heard anything until now. sigh.

Molecular Genetics and Genomics.

Maybe they haven’t gotten to MCB yet?

I have just received an e-mail from the IGP program assistant, and she told me that she had NOT gotten to processing my application yet. And now, she has done so, and application is complete…
Well that happened after I sent her an e-mail (a few hours ago), stating that I submitted my app. on Nov. 28th, and I was very worried with its status.
So, hopefully, people who are in the same situation will start hearing soon from NW, at least about the app. status.

Rejection from UW Madison’s Neuroscience Training Program. Oh well; it was near the bottom of my preferred schools anyways :)

Just got a Duke Biochem interview invite! Here’s what I have so far:

Interviews:
Vanderbilt IGP
Vanderbilt CPB
Duke Biochem

No word yet:
UCSF Tetrad
Rockefeller
U. Florida IDP

Has anyone heard from Rockefeller, UT Southwestern? I got interview invitation from Duke CMB yesterday.

Regarding WashU, the invitations are track specific…mine was from MCB, but different department meet at their own ease once the files are forwarded to them by DBBS (main program).

Now, waiting for the big ones in boston and california :)

regarding rockefeller: does stan leibler take students? what exactly is his status there? is he going to leave soon? if so, that would be a waste of an app for me…

is anyone here going to NYU sackler next week?

Does anyone know abt the stanford invitations timeline? what abt MIT?

For MIT, last year someone got the invite on Jan 15. not sure about Stanford. I think it’s around that time as well.

So I got invited by a faculty member to interview at Yale (BBS biochemistry and molecular biophysics department) and then another email from the graduate registrar who said that they cannot officially offer admission until after the interview but that they “anticipate that most visitors will receive an offer of admission”. I’m not entirely sure what to make of this… is there anyone else who got this same email? Is this basically an offer of admission or do they weed people out during the interview?

I assume that means the Yale interview is simply a personality check.

We are the same, but I still believe good news is coming; esp. for me, I’m also applying molecular genetics and genomics, and they have started sending invitation according to molbio…

good luck everyone.

n7el: I’ll be at Sackler next week.

I should’ve applied to Yale Neuro, why did I apply to MCDB…

@hamster you relieved so much stress for me. I also applied to yale’s pharm. Their deadline was so early, I thought I would have heard back from them by this week at the latest.

Regarding the Yale interviews, I spoke with the Neuro secretary the other day and she said that about 50% of those invited to interview were typically offered admission. Obviously, GCAAAUAACGCG, your department is a little bigger and admits more students than does the Neuro program (see link below). My interview email didn’t say anything about my chances of being accepted - wish it had!

Does anyone have similar admittance/interview rate info for other schools? I wish this part of the process was a little more open.

For what it’s worth, here’s my school list:
Interviews (all Neuro programs): Yale (1/6), SUNY Stony Brook (1/1), U-Minn (Twin Cities) (1/6), and Johns Hopkins (12/30)
Waiting (all Neuro programs): UCSF, Stanford, Berkeley, UCDavis, Columbia, Tufts, Washington University
