MIT bio interviews are Mon. Feb 8, Feb 22 and Mar. 8 ( Fri- Tues weekend)
Stanford weekend is Mar 3-7
Does anyone know the weekends for Harvard and Caltech?
I hear that Scripps is flexible. Is that true?
Also though Rockefeller does not interview, they do invite you to visit. Is there a set weekend or weekends?

anyone get a stanford email yet? (neuro)

Re: MIT interviews, my understanding from a few years ago was that they accepted about two-thirds of those who were interviewed. You will typically find out if you’re accepted the week after the interview (two or three days later), but not hearing immediately doesn’t mean you aren’t accepted, because they’ll accept more people in ~March if they can.

Re: Harvard, the BBS recruitment weekends are Feb 11-14 and Feb 25-28, so they follow the MIT weekends. I don’t know when the MCB weekends are.

Re: interview atmosphere, my general advice is to relax and enjoy talking about science with smart people. You’re talking about your (awesome) work and their (awesome) work! This is supposed to be fun.

…and an update (all neuroscience programs):

Interviews - University of Michigan, University of Utah, University of Arizona
Rejections - Princeton (official email), Brown (asked secretary in email), University of Washington (asked secretary in email)

Stats:
GRE - 670V, 750Q, 4.5AW
3.94 uGPA (unheard of state school), 3.75 M.S. GPA (top 30)
1st author pub in lowly journal, 2 posters at big conferences, 3 years of research

Anyone have any thoughts on the three programs? I feel like reputation wise, Michigan is at the top. But, Utah has a few HHMI folks affiliated with neuro. And perhaps most importantly, there are 7 world class ski resorts within 30 minutes of Salt Lake City (a much better stat than catchy faculty publications in Nature).

Does anyone know how many people get accepted into Harvard’s BBS Program?

@RIO2016
I am an international applicant and I received an invitation via email

@Influenza
I applied for Pharmacology /Toxicology program

just got an interview invite from Northwestern IGP! February weekends are all booked for me…hope my boss understands with all the leave I will be taking:-)

@ItsGarfield

Hey, when and how did u get interview from Utah, thx.

Got a phone call from the program director on Dec. 18. An email with more details will be coming they said, although I still haven’t got it. Interview weekend isn’t until middle of February.

Hey everyone - just joined after reading for the past few days…it’s sounding like I got a bit arrogant when applying:

Applied: UC Irvine, U. Pitt. Med. School, Tufts Sackler, GSK, Weill Cornell, Columbia College Physicians/Surgeons, CSHL, Stony Brook

Interviews: UC Irvine, U. Pitt. Med. School

Rejections: None (so far)

From what I’ve read, I’ve missed the invites for GSK and Weill Cornell - anyone heard from any of the others?

Thanks a lot – good luck everyone - this year is turning out to be much harder than the past years!
Also - if anyone is applying to Univ. of Texas at Austin, I’m an undergrad. here and have been pretty involved in a lot of labs, so let me know if you have any questions.

Hi txsoccer,
may I know what is the program you are applying to? I also applied to the UCIrvine and Sackler (immunology), still waiting.

I applied to Cell, Mol, and Developmental as well as Cell & Mol physiology at the Sackler school and the graduate program in Cellular and Molecular Biosciences at UC Irvine - hopefully in Stem Cell Biology and/or Developmental Bio and Genetics.

Really hoping for an invite to the Sackler school to see what it’s all about but I’m happy with any of the schools I applied to. I didn’t apply to ‘safety schools’ because it doesn’t make sense to me when you’re applying to programs with specific faculty/research opportunities.

Hey all! im new here and just had a quick question…I was wondering what info anyone knows about whether or not MIT Biology is still sending out offers for interviews? and if anyone had heard either positive or negative from Harvard BBS?

Thanks!!

@gradhopefully:
Harvard BBS doesn’t sent out acceptances until the last week of January. I assume they wait to send the rejection letters, but I don’t really know.

Typical first-year class size is about 50-60, and I think (from the size of the recruitment weekends) that maybe twice that number are accepted.

Has anyone heard from NYU Neural Science or know when they will most likely let us know?

Does anyone know how UW immunology rates in terms of graduate programs?

i heard from the graduate student host in pharmacology from yale by email. just sharing

Anyone has any news from WUSTL DBBS today? I received that faculty list email around one month ago but still no news at all. Really worried interviews are already all sent out.

Still out of the country here is an update:

interviews from USC PIBBS, U Chicago cancer bio, UPenn CAMB, and northwestern IGP.

Good luck everyone!
