Wow! congratulations… I should really finish my app to Baylor. It looks like their admission is on a rolling basis.

So neither Weill Cornell (BCMB) or UChciago have received my GRE general (for Cornell) or subject test (for either school). Chicago says specifically not to call them. I called Cornell on Monday the 1st to check on my status and they said they were still processing stuff. Am I being overly neurotic? I have called quite a few other schools and similar things have been solved within 5 minutes. Should I leave them alone? Or bug them once more?

These are two of my favorite schools, and with their deadlines having passed I don’t want to be incomplete. Thoughts?

The GRE is another part of your application (like recommendations) that grad schools tend to see as not your problem. This is especially true because your scores are generally on the application already, so the official report is just a formality.

My scores didn’t get sent to one of my schools, and they invited me for an interview anyway, but asked that I send them my scores before the interview weekend.

Don’t worry about it too much. You might call in a week or two to verify the scores have now been received, but if the program wants to interview you, they’ll most likely do that whether they have your official score report or not.

When did you submit your application?
Are you domestic or int’l applicant?
Thanks!

Hello,

Just got an email from WashU letting me know that my application has been forwarded to the admissions committee and that I should submit a list of faculty members for interviews.

Is this a good sign or does everybody get this email? Thanks.

I asked the same question some time ago.
I received this faculty request around Nov.20(I submitted on Nov.1). I made a survey about this.
First, my classmates who submitted at the same time didn’t receive such a thing;
Second, I consulted people who applied WashU DBBS last year, those who got the interview did get this request; while those who were not invited for interview didn’t get this request. And I didn’t find anyone who got this request but were not invited for interview. (what a logic~~~)
Third, I asked the coordinator, she said, this meant you’ve passed the initial review and been selected into the final round of review.

So, taking all these together, I do think this is a good sign.

And according to my survey, for domestic students, they would receive the interview notification just a week later; while for international students, notification would arrive around the late Dec. or early Jan.

I think people who applied WashU DBBS can all share your status.(whether receive this request list, so that we could be clear about how DBBS enrolled students in a rolling basis)

Hey, I was just browsing the gradcafe results section and I noticed that somebody was already accepted to UCSD’s Biomedical Sciences program(application due Dec 15th). Does the program not do interviews? Has anyone else heard anything from UCSD?

I also applied to WUSTL on Nov 12 and received that request on Nov 18. Well, I really hope that’s a good sign.

Ack! I want one of those WUSTL emails (I applied a little closer to the deadline than you guys) – Commence checking email every 5 minutes.

selpunca,

are you an international applicant? not to alarm you or anything, but i want to confirm whether the interview request will come within a week (as gerrybio claims) or next month…thanks

“And according to my survey, for domestic students, they would receive the interview notification just a week later; while for international students, notification would arrive around the late Dec. or early Jan.” –> Are you referring to the official interview invitation?

I’m an international applicant, but did my undergrad in US (if that will make any difference). I got the faculty list request, not the interview invitation, within a week.

yes, that was exactly what i was referring to.

i’m also an international student and did my undergrad here. i guess we’ll hear back next month…

Johns Hopkins asked me about which faculty members I’d like at my interview about a week after they invited me to their interview weekend. So hopefully thats a good sign for you! good luck!

Do all interviewing schools ask for a faculty list for interviews?

for those of you who got the request for faculty @ WUStL:

Did you mention specific faculty in your application? I submitted about 2 weeks ago and haven’t received that email…but I mentioned specific faculty in my application/sop.

I hope I still hear something from them!

On another note: I got a rather generic email from Yale, about 2 weeks after applying, saying, “we are delighted you applied…here are some links about our school we hope you will look at.”

Has anyone else who applied to Yale received this? I’m assuming it’s meaningless.

I did mention 3 names in my SoP.

yeah, got that generic email from Yale too.

Same. Thanks, Yale!

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

@nutmeg1284

if you look at the gradcafe result, they say they were invited to a UCSD interview weekend.
