agreed.

^^

agreed.

Or… you could’ve applied to Chicago and not heard anything back and be freaking out (well, not really but still, it would be nice to know).

You know what sucks? I picked on my premed best friends and girlfriend all semester long about how neurotic they were. I am such a hypocrite!

Anyway, I checked my Sloan Kettering App, and mine also lists who reviewed the application and the people that they suggested for interviewing me. Let’s hope that is a good sign. (or we are going crazy…)

Mollie, belevitt, aren’t you guys supposed to tell us to chill out right about now? :P

hey safetypin00 no need to freak out…if you see the last year’s interviews thread…international students heard from Uchicago very late (~first week of january).

oops I wrote december lol

So, for those who haven’t received a ‘who would you like to interview with’ emails from WUSTL, I found this on the WUSTL blog from last year: “The Admissions Committee will begin making interview decisions in December and will continue until the beginning of January. Do not be concerned if you do not receive an invitation to interview but a friend does receive an invitation. The various Admissions Committees are on different review schedules and do not meet at the same time. I anticipate that the majority of the applications will be reviewed by the end of January and interview decisions will be made by the beginning of February. If you have not heard from us by the end of February, please contact us at that time.” But I am still anxiously hoping for an email…

Happily: dudes, chill out. Save your stress for when you’re actually in grad school.

You should be hearing from most schools by the end of January. It’s best for you and your immune system if you don’t think about grad school admissions until then.

I also applied to Sloan Kettering but I don’t see the name of the reviewer and the interviewers recommended by this reviewer… Noooooooo

Hahah. No news from Yale either. I am getting sharp pains in my stomach.

To go along w/ the “chillout if you haven’t heard from WUStL” idea… I actually emailed Jen Dix, who schedules interviews, and she said that they begin offering interviews mid-December and continue through mid-March.

Does anyone know if there is a specific etiquette for how quickly to register for an interview weekend? U Mass Med offered me two options (first and last weekends in February) and I am currently waiting to hear from other schools before I choose one, as to avoid scheduling conflicts… It would save me a lot of hassle if each program would just post their interview dates on their websites. On that note, does anyone know the interview dates for U Michigan PIBS, U Virginia ITP, or U Pittsburgh IGBP? Thanks!

Most schools will have more than one interview weekend, so it’s okay to schedule before hearing from other schools – you’ll probably be able to fit them all in.

And if your dates do conflict, you can just call back and ask to change weekends, no problem.

wow its taking longer then I thought for schools to sort out my transcript of gre scores…

I had ETS send my GRE scores to Pittsburgh 3 separate times since September, and I am still getting emails every other day from Pittsburgh reminding me that my application is incomplete. They have already acknowledged that the GRE score report is the only thing they are waiting for… is there anything I can do to speed that up?

Also, Virginia has not received my transcript. I sent my transcript about a month ago, and I submitted my application two weeks ago. How long should I wait before re-sending? They have made it very clear through their phone-answering message and lack of email responses that it takes some time for them to match everything to the application — but how long should I wait before assuming it was lost in transit?

Has anyone (or anyone you know) heard anything from Yale? Someone up thread posted about an interview in China, so they have obviously started looking at applications.

I have a feeling that the interviews in China are being conducted by a satellite program or alumni…Doesn’t Yale have a collaborative program in China? Would be nice to hear from gerrybio, who reported the Yale interviews initially.

I’m sorry to reply late. I think interview in China would a very very special case, which has nothing to do with you guys. So don’t feel nervous when hearing this. In my point, Yale is still reviewing the file and the interview is still on the way. Good luck! (Though I have almost given up Yale, since I lost the chance for interview in China, in my city…)

More, I think you guys are so excellent, esp. experienced in research, which is the weakness of many international students…You guys would definitely hear very soon from many top schools about interview decision…So, stop being nervous!!!

It’s us international students that should feel nervous!!!

I’m now expecting interview from Wash U DBBS and Upenn BGS, which both give interview soon…(early Jan…)

Good luck to everyone!

I would love to do a PhD in the states at one of the Ivies, but I’m unsure if they will even consider me due to my low Undergrad GPA.

I studied in the British University system. My details are:
King’s College London BSc 2.2 (with Honours) = GPA~3.2
This is due to death of close relatives, serious illness of my dad and financial hardship, followed by me being very complacent and depressed. This is backed up by my referees.

I’m doing a MSc in Cancer at UCL, which is now ranked 4th in the world and we are allied with Yale for BBS. I will have many months of valuable lab experience and very good references. I also have many outside activites and teaching experience.

Do you think in combination with top notch GRE scores, I would stand a chance for a BBS program at any of the Ivies? Would a low Undergrad GPA be considered more heavily than a good Master’s GPA?

Thanks for any help guys :)

RIO2016-
I completed my application to Baylor in September, and I am a domestic applicant.

The email from Baylor indicates that on Friday of the interview weekend we will be interviewing with six faculty members…from what I have heard, these interviews can range from the more traditional interview, to discussing previous research, to casual conversation. Does anyone who has previously gone through the process of interviewing for a biomedical science program have advice for preparation?

hey cytometry–I got the invite from Baylor too…interview on the Feb 4th weekend! I am very excited!! What program did u apply to? I applied to Molecular & Cell Biology.

I am still waiting to hear back from other schools - reading at the previous posts, for those of you have applied to UCSD, are you guys already receiving interview invites?? I applied there like in Oct–havent heard back yet–should I be worried. I know its still early in the cycle, I am just being a little paranoid…lol!

Neways–congrats to ppl who got invites to UChicago. I was going to apply there but I backed out last minute.

Thanks, Cytometry!

@ gerrybio
I do not agree with you on the int’l applicants lack of experience. I find the experience we have (South American people, and from what I have read in these threads, Canadian applicants) is one of the most interesting things in our profile (the int’l status is bad enough already).
I can tell you that many int’l applicants will have years of experience, sometimes (in my country’s reality that would be almost always) they will have a MSc degree, and publication(s) in peer review journals.
Not to mention that undergraduate courses are much less general than in the US (this is for Brazil, that I can speak for certain). So, int’l applicants do have LOTS of problems during the application season, but lack of experience is probably not one of them.

Good luck to all of us. I guess I will have to be patience… I didn’t even get an e-mail from Northwestern (nor Duke) telling me my application is complete (which is starting to bug me).
