and where are you headed again dwincho?

I just spent two years in the armed forces, weighing my options. My reaches are Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Vassar, Brown, Pomona, Grinnell, NYU and CUNY Scholars.

UT, A&M, Texas Tech mainly.

petite gymnast with huge family and even bigger friend/fan base -- dartmouth (over family pattern of UVA)
personable QB, sans the ego -- lehigh
incredible writer/artist/humanitarian (female) -- yale
pseudo hippie who is "way into philosophy, man" -- bard
outgoing, charismatic, idealistic theater gal -- princeton

and the one no one can quite figure out....
bookaholic who may/may not be mute -- brown

naturally smart at everything, our school's "da vinci" - UPenn
bright, very laid back, extremely good at video games - WUSTL

Top 5:
1.Modest, intelligent, corny, athletic > Duke
2.Arrogant, clever, athletic, knows too much for her own good > Stevens [turned down Columbia]
3.Eccentric, ambitious, impatient, sensible > Harvard
4.Smart hottie, popular, coy, witty, intelligent > Davidson
5.Level-headed, Reserved, Considerate, Linguistic genius > Tufts

From my S's class of 2005--Wake, Elon, College of Charleston(girls), Chapel Hill, NC State, Cornell, UVA, GA tech (engineers), Annapolis

well-rounded, intellectual-but-social, talented-but-modest, well-liked-but-not-egocentric (etc...) kids from your graduating class

Gawd. If there'd been kids like this in my class, maybe I wouldn't have been so miserable in high school. The only one of us who came close, I'd say, was my best friend, who wanted Columbia, but went to Barnard.

All the cool kids in my school went to the state flagship university. But here are some people in my school with distinctive characteristics:

Smart, but lazy, laid-back guys who play video games all day - WUSTL, Case
Wealthy, type A ^ infinity, ambitious, cynical, sarcastic overachievers who are huge party animals when they don't have any work - UPenn
Politically active, liberal, loud, outgoing, and hyper lesbian - Wellesley
Smart but shy guy who comes from a family that is both very strict and wealthy- Cornell

Funny, smart-but-lazy, popular-but-not the douchebag popular, athletic, really just a cool guy ---> Kenyon College
Uber-studious, nice, social-when there isn't a test in the next two days, loud-and-outgoing girl ---> Vanderbilt (full tuition)
Studious-but-not obessessed with books, smart-but-not-a-genius, hardworking, athletic, do-gooder(in a good way), girl ---> NC State (full ride)
really funny, studious-but-even-more-social, naturally smart-but-doesn't-show it, artsyguy ---> Tufts
amazingly smart, athletic, hardworking, nice, friendly ---> Davidson
nice, smart-and-hardworking, artistic, outdoorsy, athletic, hot-homecoming-court chick ---> Stanford
really smart, really hardworking, weird-but-funny ---> Harvard
Outdoorsy, the nice-AND-popular girl, attractive, hardworking, social ---> Georgetown
Popular, good at everything she tries, hardworking, smart ---> UVa (full ride)
really funny, social-and-popular, smart, lazy, going to college for her Mrs. degree ---> Tennessee (only school she applied to)
That probably wraps it up for "cool" senior friends...

the people that are fun and smart go to ut-austin, the rich and smart go to smu, the people you can see being married with a couple of kids go to a&m or tech, and the smart nerds go to rice or a school in new england.

Hmmm, well I go to a private, college prep school in California, and here's where the cool kids are headed.

Valedictorian, very sweet, kind of nerdy, not very social, but very smart: Williams
Her best friend, who is very similar to her: Swarthmore
Fun girl, goofy, jokes around a lot, big partier, fairly intelligent: WUSTL (minority, definitely wouldn't have gotten in otherwise)
Most popular girl, very smart, really into Asian stuff: University of Hawaii at Manoa
Girl who marches to the beat of her own drum, dressed weird, dyes her hair black, not too popular or too smart: Brown
Semi-weird girl, very, very intelligent, indepedent thinker: UMass Amherst
Bubbly, giggly girl, who might be smart, but if so, is good at acting dumb: Amherst (Tennis star, legacy)
School sports star, class president: Stanford
Outdoorsy star of the cross country team, who wins trialations and is taking a year off to go hiking in Patagonia, probably the smartest person I've ever met: Dartmouth
Nerdy, not too popular, sometimes a little annoying, study-holic girl: UChicago
Too-mature-for-her-age girl, who is obsessed with everything European and loves city culture: Columbia
6' tall model girl who does nonstop community service and lives alone: Vanderbilt
Me (smart, slightly material, goofy, very social, like to party but definitely take schoolwork seriously): UVA

Everyone else: USC

most everyone-smu, other than the apartment dwellers who most likely go to ut-austin

camper89 - Where do you go to school? The only school that I could see sending almost everyone to SMU would be Highland Park.

flower mound hs. school population tends to come from wealth a lot like that at highland park. ex of flower mound residents/former residents: terrell owens, deion sanders, chuck norris(no joke). but carroll and colleyville both send a similar number down to smu as well

How does someone in high school live alone?

camper - Ah, yes, I could see that from Flower Mound, though I thought the relative geographical distance between FM and SMU might lead to a few people going to TCU instead. I guess not. I could also see a large amount going from Carroll & Colleyville.

gellino - any HS kid 18 or over can live alone, as well as an emancipated minor.

Is HS kids living alone a common thing? I've never heard of that and certainly not for someone who would need the type of support necessary to go to Vanderbilt the next year.

i go to a public high school just fifteen minutes away from downtown LA, and heres the rundown:

Class-president, pretty popular among the class > UCLA
Ambitious, determined, conservative, is a mormon, very intelligent > Harvard
VERY well-rounded, intelligent, cultured, grammar queen > Loyola Marymount
pretty shy, math/science geek, bando, music prodigy > Columbia

pretty interesting, keep this going!
