Quick side note… does anyone know when the 2009 yearbook is coming out?

Don’t know about the 09, but the publication said that 2010 will be out in the fall of 2010. I’ll see what I can find out for ya

Just a quick question on the yearbooks. My Mid said he only wants his Senior yearbook and has no interest in his 3rd class yearbook. The book is expensive and if he doesn’t want one I’m not sure if I want to spend the money. Anyone else getting a book just for them?

This is the first year we have had to make this decision. In the past they were provided as part of the midshipman service fees. I think if I were in your position I would just quietly buy the book and hang on to it. His feelings are likely to change in ten years or so and he may enjoy looking back over the years. Also, his class will probably continue to lose members and these may be the only memories he has to hold on to. Like all 3rd classmen he is probably hating life right now. It is the dark ages after all. His feelings right now are not a good indicator of how he will feel in the future.

As the mom of a former KP grad(2007), I am disappointed to learn that the yearbooks are no longer part of the midshipman’s fee. So glad my son got a book each year, and to see the changes in the class roster, and ‘maturity’ in the faces of his classmates. I agree with MarineOpsDad…get the book…

Yes, we have to pay for the yearbook’s but remember, our fees went down substantially. I would rather pay for a year book then pay higher fees :)

And speaking of the 2009 yearbooks and that they were included in the activity fees:where
is the 2009 yearbook? When I was Editor of my college yearbook, we distributed them the last week of school. Well here we are, almost in February, 2010 and I have never seen one. before I purchase a 2010 yearbook I want to see the one I supposedly have paid for.

Our DD told us that a notice was sent out last Spring telling the mids where and when to pick them up. She decided she didn’t care and never picked up hers. Nothing was sent to parents.

DD also said that she doesn’t really want a yearbook. We suspect that she will change her mind in a few years. So we’re buying a 2010 yearbook anyway. Too bad we can’t get hold of last year’s book for her. That’s likely to be a choice she regrets down the line.

Just have her to to Land Hall and talk to someone in the upstairs office there, they have plenty and she might was well get one considering you already paid for it.

Thanks, I’ll have him check there.

A couple months ago…lets say November…the 2009 Yearbook still had a lot of editing to be done. The editors have to go through every page of the yearbook and every profile and make sure it is perfect. That being said they should be done fairly soon. The 2009 Midships staff had a lot on their hands and very few people to work on it so that left more work on individuals and also means that it will take longer to come out. I have seen a preview of it though and it looks great. I would recommend getting a book for every year you are here. As a 1/C looking back through my old yearbooks it brings back a lot of great memories.

My DS said he didn’t care if he got one except for Firsdt Class year. Since my experience has been to occassionally look through all four of them from my time at KP 30 years ago, I’m ignoring his comment, buying him the yearbook now, and if when he graduates he only wants to look at the one from his First Claqss year so be it…
