The Class of 2010 will report next Thursday, July 6th, with 271 new Plebe Candidates and 3 setbacks from 2009 who must complete indoctrination a second time.

The class will include 37 females.

Several members of the Class of 1960 (50 years prior) will be on hand to welcome the new class.

The Class of 2010 is reporting a day earlier than past classes to complete some STCW requirements during indoctrination.

In addition to the physical fitness, marching and Academy history requirements, the class will spend a greater amount of time on the waterfront learning small boat handling, sailing and seamanship nomenclature.

In the Class of 2010 are two sons of female graduates, Glenda Margerum O'Connor '85 and Jo Ann Houghtaling Davis '81, the first to have children enter the Academy.

Both are married to Kings Pointers, Scott O'Connor '83 and Dave Davis '81 for true Kings Point families. Both are from Florida (Jacksonville and Panama City).

It is a small world. My son, who just completed his internship at Jax, ended up working with Scott O'Connor. He met Scott's son, who is in the Class of 2010. Will luck hold out and have us meet this family at Acceptance Weekend? Stay tuned....

speaking of girls, I was surprised to see in the photos that the females sleep in the same hallway as the male midshipmen. Is this just for INDOC or for the entire time?

they have some pretty strict rules with males and females though. for plebes if a guy and girl are in the same room the light must be on and the door must be open 90 degrees, or they will both most likely get stuck with a class 2.

Ok. That leads us to what "stuck" means. "Stuck" is when you get placed on restriction for something you have done wrong. Punishment is pretty harsh so you darn sure don't want it to happen. Most all Mids get "stuck" at one time or another.
