2011 AP Human Geography Preparation Thread!

i was looking at the score distributions on college board and about 9% get 5s… don’t think it’s a joke

I’m not saying its a joke, I just hadn’t started studying yet and am going for a 5

lol bro i wasn’t accusing you of anything i was just agreeing with just4ivaylo. honestly i think you should go for it too

You obviously think it is a joke, because you waited until the last night to study.

Lol I don’t have any choice I already paid, no refunds

Haha, I thought so… crop rotation and 3 feudal system. lol.

Foward capital is a capital that was previously somewhere else and it became the capital due the reasons such as political, economic, cultural, etc. Ex, Brasilia, Brazil and St petersburg, russia (moved by peter b/c either he wanted to or it was for some economic thing, I don’t remember it that clearly)

can you explain what central place theory is?

Bananas, sugarcane, and coffee are what type of crops?

Correct, plantation.

Where is the upward transition zone in the US?
A Northeast
B Great plains
C Sunbelt
D Alaska
E Pacific Coast

What is that term? Is it the Sun Belt?

Haha, taking it self-studied and only started going through Barrons over spring break. What overall score could one expect with low FRQs and 10 or so wrong on the MC? That’s how I have been doing so far on my practice tests?

It can’t HURT to take it, right?

That is the same question I have. :stuck_out_tongue: It won’t hurt you if you take an AP exam and don’t do well.

A. Plantation. The bananas gave it away.

Central Place theory- christaller- explains the distribution of services.
-Cities are in the shape of a hexagon
-explains how and where central places on the urban hierarchy would be spatially distributed in respect of one another
-proposed an ideal world with: flat land, same levels of soil fertility, the population distribution and transportation is uniform.

I was told that you’d be out 86 bucks but that you wouldn’t even have to report it if you did poorly. The colleges will see the scores but not until after they accept you. AP scores don’t make or break an App. At least, I hope this is true.

The correct answer is Sunbelt because it has a favorable business climate and many businesses are relocating there.

What geographic theory suggests that the landscape and climate dominated human actions and behaviors?
A Possibilism
B Environmental Determinism
C Global environmentalism
D Human/Landscape analysis
E Cultural ecology

B. Environmental Determinism …?

Which of the following is an example of an edge city?
A. Anchorage, Alaska
B. Seattle, Washington
C. Boston, Mass.
D. Tyson’s Corner, Virginia
E. Las Vegas, Nevada

i found that some stuff overlaps with ap env sci :)
