ya, I see what you mean. I hope my response wont take the this tread in a different direction but…I just like the way Andover felt overall, meaning campus, teachers & students. Don`t get me wrong, Exeter was really nice too but I had to choose one for my reach school :)

About this time two years ago, my son and started looking at top NE BS’s. Because I went to college in the NE eons ago, I knew a bit about most of these schools. But there was one of these schools about which I knew absolutely nothing: Hotchkiss. That said, the more we learned about THS, the more impressed we became.

After my son applied to Hotchkiss, we visited it. (I know. You visit first, then apply.) We came to THS in the dead of winter during a long weekend. We saw few kids, but did visit with some teachers and toured the campus on our own. The teachers gave us all of the time we wanted and more. The tour was fun, because it was self-guided. Everything was a discovery. And some of the things we discovered there were more impressive than anything comparable we saw elsewhere (e.g., PEA, PA, DA, SPS, L’ville, etc.). We were overwhelmed by the indoor athletic facilities, esp. the aquatic area, and the music center, esp. the auditorium. As for students, we finally saw them during our Revisit Day. My son must have been impressed, because he enrolled in THS soon after his Revisit.

As a parent, I continue to be impressed by this school more and more each day. (For example, last spring, two, not one, but two, Nobel Prize Laureates for Literature gave programs at the school. Amazing.)

So, go ahead and submit your application. I hope this school amazes you as much as it has amazed us.

Andover/Exeter are NOT like brother/ sister at all. One difference is Exeter’s much stronger in Math/science. There are other differences, you should look for those many previous threads that compare them.
