I’m planning to submit half of the maximum number of characters allotted. A 10,800 character essay that merely rambles would probably detract from its quality.

I’m planning the same.
Similar ideas on the other essays? Is anyone recycling essays from college/scholarship apps, or are you writing them all original?

anybody know the required scores for ct? interesting that a 35 act wasn’t good enough but i’m guessing that only a 36 would qualify then?

@six: used to live in ND. Definitely less competitive out there, and the buildings are pretty high tech.
GA cutoff -1590/1600
Congrats to everyone!

So um, do we get an email if we are disqualified from the competition?

I sent my online part on time (about an hour before), my GC sent her rec a day before and the transcript with a guaranteed delivery date before the deadline-- but I still feel like something could have gone wrong. And with how rigid/cold/uncaring the system seems, I feel there is a possibility we might never know if we just didn’t make the semifinalist cut come mid-April, or if we simply got disqualified from an incomplete on-time application… thoughts?

^Yes, agreed. Same thing for me basically.

Anyone know where the Presidential Scholars stay during the week in D.C.? A hotel or college dorms? Do they have roommates? Just curious.

Just FYI, I graduated high school many moons ago (1999), but a 1510 verbal + math SAT was not enough to be a PS candidate in Arkansas back then.

whoa, hi everyone. It’s been a while.

I was a Presidential Scholar. Happy to answer any questions, though I think the deadline has already passed.

Most of what you ask can be found on wikipedia: [Presidential Scholars Program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Presidential Scholars Program - Wikipedia)

@cloudeleven: we stayed in dorms. and had roommates.

^Dorms at what college?

Georgetown, I think.

Yayyyy. I guess we just continue waiting?

^ Yeah. I got a packet saying that Finalists will be announced in Mid-May.
