I need some information if there is a 2011 cadet or parent that could help. My son is currently at USAFA, but applied and has been accepted as an exchange cadet to USNA for the 2009 fall semester. USAFA has a parents' weekend that we had already made many of the arrangements for, so as I'm cancelling those reservations, I'm wondering if Naval has a similar weekend. I did find info on last year's weekend for C1C's and C2C's, but could find nothing on future dates. Does anyone have any information for the coming fall so we can start reserving dates/vacation time?

We have "tentative" (meaning don't make your reservations yet) dates of Sept 11-13. This is for second class parents. We are fairly certain that it will be a weekend in September when Navy is hosting a football game.

Thanks...I'll keep that in mind. He's looking forward to his semester there, as he received appointment offers to both places and loved his visit to Annapolis. Guess we'll be heading east this year instead of west!

Forewarn him, he should know he'll need to get up before 0830 @ USNA and there is NO storage facility for golf clubs.

You mean they don't just store them at the Club? ;)

I hope your son has a great semester at USNA! I hope he enjoys wearing white during Navy-AF game week!

Sadly, for him, I don't believe he does. He's sorta like the golden trout in a barrel full of rainbows. "Which one should I shoot at, Dad?"

"Well, son, take a pop at that one who looks like he drove the Navy Greyhound team bus over to the stadium." ;) :p

My wife (USMA '88) was an exchange cadet at USNA. It's a great honor for your son and I'm sure he'll get a lot out of it. Congrats! Check out the video on YouTube of the Air Force exchange cadets playing "Off we go..." in the mess hall at USNA before being run out of the place. I'm surprised that guy was able to play the trumpet that long!

I'm sure he'll survive...although, obviously it sounds like he'll need a good sense of humor and some good running shoes!!! After being to several AFA parades, I agree...you sure can spot the exchange cadets with their "Did they not get the e-mail on which uniform to wear?" look! He's on his way back from a spring break trip to Jordan. But when I talk to him, I'll be sure to defer him to this thread so you can harass him directly!

My Mid did the opposite–a semester at AFA. She sure has liked those Blue and Silver weekends! I actually had to ask on the parents’ list–did it really mean they got every other weekend off??? The differences at the academies was being bandied about a month ago and a WP cadet asked, “Do we have to go back?” It will be hard for my Mid to head back to the land of humidity…

He’s anxious to see how the “other side” lives. Humidity is certainly nothing they deal with too much in Colorado, but my son swears they live in a wind tunnel. I assume your daughter is at USAFA now…what squadron is she in?
