2011 intros!

oh hi again

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

:O

:O

:O

Wow, where have u been.... HI

Hey whats up,

My names Colin Giles and I'm from Brentwood NH

I got in around jan 1st but have been to busy to get on the forum, so just sayin hey.

I went to the Republic of Georgia and back...that's about all there is to tell.

Thanks for all the encouraging replies - I've been commuting from here to Green Bay alot, so I haven't been able to check up on this site as often as I'd like to. I got the "official" blue envelope on Tuesday and sent it off today.

Thanks again!

Nick

Fair winds & following seas to the newcomers! Many congrats. Stay safe till I-Day!

Davy, what did you sail on? C'mon, atleast give us alittle something. :D

a dry cargo ship, we took grain to georgia and backloaded fertilizer...we were a giant bomb.

The ship's name is the Harriette owned by Sealift Inc. www.sealiftinc.com you can find a photo there.

My son, Tony, just got his acceptance letter yesterday. He's JAZZED!

Trying now to get info about Indoc report date (July 5th ? confirmed) and Parent's Weekend (Sept. 14 - 16).

KPFootballDAD, many congrats & welcome! You've probably been to the parent's website by now but I'll post it here just in case you've missed it:

http://www.usmma.edu/parents/
see the second link down on the left (reg cal) The very last date listed is Indoc - July 5

The July 5th date looks pretty secure. As with anything military though, "Semper Gumby" as they say. Prepare to become flexible. Now go fetch the boy off the ceiling & get him wrapped in bubble wrap to keep him injury free until July 5. :D

Congrats again!

Davy, cool ship. The older ships seem to have a little more "sea story" attached to them. Hope your shower worked. ;)

It's really weird to hear Class of 2011 when I have only been 3/C for 11 weeks. I missed the beginning of school for Marine Corps stuff, then I went out to sea for a few months and now I am coming back and the class of 2011 is getting ready to come in. One of the better things about sea year is time goes by so much faster. The best part of sea, not being at Kings Point!

Leadin,

you were third class at graduation, you've only been 3rd class at KP for 11 weeks.

KPFootballDad,

Take Tony to the SS Jeremiah O'Brien in San Francisco before he goes to KP if he hasn't already been there. Its one of only two remaining Liberty Ships. Its a great way to put what he's about to begin in context.

http://www.ssjeremiahobrien.org/

i can't speak for newer ships...but those old ships are a lot of work and a lot of fun... really good learning experience too. and yes i have some good stories, but inappropriate for parents, oh well.

Davy, no need to scare the parents. :D Did ya hear the one 'bout the woman who swallows snakes in India? Delightful! New sea stories begin today for Jamzmom. I can hardly wait.

The dry cargo ships.... With all that grain, ect., was it hard to keep stuff clean? I heard it floats around some?

Yes, let's not scare the new parents! LOL. We are worried enough.

don't be worried, it's part of the KP life, we whine, and we love telling/ swapping stories, that's how it goes. so any one else hear anything back from admissions lately?

the grain found it's way into the house, but once the hatches are sealed and you get going (a little rain, waves crashin on deck) it washes away and everything stays pretty clean until it's discharged.

Howdy ya'll! Got the FedEx today from Admissions! This Texas boy is off to the USMMA. I'll be running for the mighty Mariners.

if ur from texas u will fit in i swear half the kids here are from texas...

congrats!

Bman800m...Welcome to the Family of Mariners. It's unbelievable how quickly the time will pass till you walk through the gates for INDOC. I will think of you in June, as we celebrate our son's graduation. Read the postings here, and you should get a good feel for what goes on, and what lies ahead for you. Again, Congrats!
