Just got off the phone with IRS. If you've been, like me, in limbo since February trying to obtain the necessary information to verify a FAFSA, your transcripts should now be available, according to the representative I talked to. He said that all 2011 transcripts have now been released, even for those with a balance due.

Note that I can still not use the IRS uplink, but I have a promise from IRS that I will have a faxed copy of my transcript within 48 hours.

What a pain this has been for everyone this year! The link is such a great idea in theory … just not so much in practice.

Indeed. I stood on accountant’s head to get my moderately complex business and personal returns done in early February. Fat lot of good it did me.

We sent in our return, got the refund, etc. Set copy of all our stuff, s corp, schedules, returns to daughters school. Thought all was good. Checked and one they want the IRS transcript as well. Went one yesterday and site said five to ten days. Fingers crossed

As we file a business s corp form, is there a transcript for that. Not sure if school is going to want it

Seems I have to check online daily to see whT else they might want.

If you need it faster, call IRS (the general number, not the transcript order number) and futz with the phone tree until you reach a human being. If you have a secure fax (one that only you have access to), they will fax you a transcript. They say within 48 hours; I got mine in about a quarter of that.

Got it yesterday!!! Wow!!! Faxed off to school…last year of doing fafsa etc forever!!!,
