Don’t worry. I was accepted and I spoke with Clay James today. He said they aim for a class of 18 people and half men and half women. Once the initials offers go out they hope to hear from their top choices by april 1st then they fill the spots with their other choices. There are so many good people out there so few spots. I hope everything works out for you!!!

For those admitted: When getting the academic acceptance, was the major “undeclared”? Do you then wait for a separate letter from the theatre and dance department? Or e-mail?

In January, my D received an admission package with her major listed as “Undeclared” and a note that her major would change if she was admitted to the BFA program.
About 2 weeks after her audition, she received a letter from the Theatre Department saying that she had been admitted to the BFA program. A few days later, she received another admission package with her BFA major listed.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much! More waiting for me then. Congratulations to your D!

Okay so after reading this, I’m still unsure as to what I should make of my situation…
I applied for the University in December, got an acceptance packet in late January, auditioned for the BFA on-campus on Feb 19, and I still have not heard anything. My online application still says ‘audition not received’ and there’s nothing in the notes section. I check the mail every day, and I still have not received anything regarding my audition (no letter, no ‘still in consideration’ e-mail, etc…) Any ideas? Should I worry yet?

MTfromMD,

I don’t want to make you worry, yet but I would assume you are waitlisted or rejected. I know they told me they let all the accepted students know already. But you should call first. Don’t take my word for it. Best of luck!!!

Ohh, okay thank you. How did you get that information? Did you call them? If so, who did you contact?

Well I was accepted weeks ago. And they asked me to let them know asap if I would be attending April 1st ( if possible) so they could let the students on their waitlist know.

I kept getting emails telling me my application was incomplete, when I had already been accepted to the school weeks before. It said audition not received on mine, and when my mom called and asked when we would be hearing back, they said whenever they got up to our file. The lady in admissions said it is rolling admissions for theatre. I don’t know if they abide by the April 1st deadline for decisions, because we spoke to someone in the theatre dept and they made it sound like there was no set date when everyone would be notified by. If you haven’t heard anything and it says audition not received, I would call admissions and ask, because it’s likely they already made a decision and just haven’t mailed it yet. That’s what happened in my case, my rejection letter was mailed a day or two after we called, so I’m assuming the decision had been made before that.

My daughter was “waitlisted” several weeks ago via their admissions website…we have yet to get any formal letter or email confirming this.

The whole admissions process has really made me wonder.

I would give them a call. They have been great to deal with.
