A friend received 2011 profile in mail from NU and the following information was provided.

Enrolled Students
SAT Math: 680-770
SAT Verbal: 670-750
ACT: 30-34

Yield, around 34
acceptance rate: 26. something (higher than .5)

thanks, looking good

The stats of our neighbor:

SAT 1350-1510
ACT: 28-33
Yield: 36.5
acceptance rate: 34.7
So this year, we beat them by a little. :)

The yield is kinda low though; NU used to have ~40% yield. Not everything is rosy after the switch to common application

yeah i was looking at that too. since the scores improved i have to think it's because northwestern received more cross-applications with HYP-type schools than usual, maybe we're moving into a new peer group

I wonder what UChicago's yield is... I heard it was around the same as NU.

maybe you were thinking about their last year's yield which was 34%.

The yield does seem a bit low. Also, isn't our verbal score actually a step down of 10 points? I'm not sure it's safe to say NU is moving into a new peer group so much as that the peer group is expanding to accommodate the surge of qualified applicants, and NU is the next in line. All boats rise in a flood, you know?

forgot to mention:

freshman retention rate was a little lower, around 96. something percent as opposed to 97 in previous years

in addition, acceptance rate for females is around 25 percent as opposed to 27-28 for males...interesting results

The m/f statistic isn't large enough to be staggering to me.....

If anything, it's more equal than other colleges.
