Acceptance rate this year?

Just wondering if they had any preliminary numbers. I know that they had about 27k-28k apps. I just don't know about how many NU accepted this year. (oh btw i got accepted yay! lol)

How do you know there were 27k-28k applications this year?

[Applications Soar by 70 Percent Over Five Years : Northwestern University Newscenter](Applications Soar by 70 Percent Over Five Years: Northwestern University News)

I guess we can calculate it -

27,555 applied this year.
NU wants to enroll 2,025.

The yield rate at NU last year was 33.7%. (Reference: http://college./college-945-Northwestern-University_admissions-statistics.html) So if we use that…

and do the math (please correct me if I’m wrong):

NU probably admitted 6,000 applicants out of 27,555.

That means a 21.8% acceptance rate.

Of course… that’s all dependent on NU’s yield rate. The yield rate could be lower this year (since more applicants are applying to more schools), so the number admitted could be higher.

But either way… the acceptance rate was 26.8% last year. That’s still a pretty big drop!

I totally apologize in advance if I miscalculated or am completely wrong. I hate misleading posts on cc. ) :

I think your math is right. Assuming that’s the yield they were expecting, they should have accepted slightly less than 22%.

It seems like they accepted so many people. Not only on CC (which I know is full of above average applicants) but at my school as well.

Haha I know, they accepted at least 3 people from my school. Unfortunately 2 of them have no intention of going there :frowning: I hope that doesn’t kill the chances for class of 2015 from my school.

^keep in mind they are trying to recruit kids from NE. it’s probably harder if u are from IL
