<p>Which year is controlling for aid determination? If I use 2011 I would not qualify for any aid. If I use 2012 I might qualify for some aid. Some of the NPC ask for 2011. </p>

<p>2012 for the school year 2013-14. If you are trying to get money for this current semester which is contained in the 2012-13 school year, you need to use 2011 income. The NPCs are all set right now asking for 2011 because most folks do not have 2012 figures yet. They should be changing soon.</p>

<p>The base year for CSS profile will be 2012. However, it may also ask about earlier years and about what you expect in 2013. Just answer the questions for they year they ask for.</p>
<p>Assuming that you are applying for fall 2013, they will use 2012 income. CSS will ask for both. You need to give them both. If there is a significant discrepancy between 2011 and 2012, they give you an opportunity to explain the circumstances at the end. But 2012 is what they use, so don’t worry.</p>
