2012 AP Calculus AB Test Discussion

I thought we are not allowed to discuss the multiple choice at all?

Ohai guys.
I have one question.
For problem #1, the question about the temperature at 25, I entirely forgot to use fnInt. I stared at it for a while and then moved along. I came back to it on the non-calculator portion and wrote a little note to the grader saying that I know how to use fnInt, I just forgot, and that I was just gonna assume that it was equal to 7. I set up the integral properly and 7 it to the right number, how do you think it’ll be graded?

what is the general minimum % you need to ensure 5?

@ron oh crap i just read the notice… well time to edit my posts ><

I didn’t know that free responses could be so easy. 2nd question took honestly 3 minutes.

Easiest AP I’ve ever seen, the only one I didn’t know was related rate lamp light shadow question, but I for sure got a 5.

do you guys remember the problem where it asked the g(-3) and the g’(.3). and it asked to find the value or sate that it doesn’t exist or something like that.

So, since I bombed one of the free responses ( we are talking like a 2 out of 9), is it possible for me to still get a 5? I need some reassurance. I did mostly perfect on all the other free responses, but I didn’t get part C on number 2.

raamzic- I forgot my answer to what g’(3) was. For g"(3) i think it was zero. Wait, it’s not zero… I screwed up on that -_-

they both existed,

iirc the first one was the value of g’(-3) is the value of f(-3) and g"(-3) was the value of the slope of f(-3)

I thought the test was really straightforward. There were a few MC questions I was hung up on, I probably got around 36/45 on the MC, but the free response was really easy. There’s only one of the free response I know I messed up on, I got the constant of integration wrong on the baby bird problem, but that’s just because I forgot the absolute value in the natural log.

I’m sure I got a 5. Really straightforward exam. :]

our proctor told us not to talk about the mc exam under no circumstances. im confused, i want to talk about it, and i see people talking about it on this forum, am i missing something?

People are not supposed to talk about the SAT either, but there are hundreds of posts right after the test ends anyway.

yea, i basically did what coolguy did; i was just doubting myself cause someone said it didn’t exist for g’(-3)

Collegeboard posts the FR questions 2 days after the test, right?

So with a 2,7, and 5, and three 9’s, can I get a 5 doing reasonably well on the MC?

Are we sure that the lamppost, shadow, triangle MC problem is 2.667?

Yeah its 2.667 which I actually guessed. One stroke of luck

hehe me too. I just had the feel for 2.667 and 3.75 because they were different somehow and luck was on my side

Well logically, I eliminated D and E because there is no way a shadow can increase at that rate. And then I actually thought, since this choice has 3 decimal places, it must be the answer lol

I think this was the first instance ever where the free responses were actually easier than the multiple choice questions.
