2012 UC TAG Process Question

So I heard something about early acceptance or early decision or something, is that for ALL UC's or just a few?

Then so we TAG in september then apply normally in november?

thanks for all replies in advance

its just an “everyone out for themselves” world.

just carry my questions to the dependable members, smcguy, nick_scheu,redoplease, killmyentourage, deanzatransfer & hayward1991.

Disclaimer: Just because no one responds in a 4 hour window, doesn’t mean s**t about peoples dependability and willingness to answer questions. We have lives, we are busy. Be patient young grasshopper.

All UC’s except LA and Berkeley do transfer agreement guarantees (TAGs).

Last year the UC’s allowed students to TAG to multiple UC’s which resulted in problems, so they fixed that for this year by only allowing each student to TAG to a single UC. Note that each UC has it’s own eligibility criteria and study that carefully before you apply at the UC of your choice.

Follow this to be successful:

 • Carefully choose the UC you want to TAG to
 • Apply for TAG in September
 • If you met all the criteria for that campuses TAG program, you will receive notice of acceptance into the TAG program in October.
 • In November apply to all the UC’s including the one you TAG’d to. Make sure to check the box that indicates you have a TAG with a particular UC.
 • Wait the longest few months in your life.
 • Keep up your grades
 • Complete your major prereqs
 • Do whatever else you needed to satisfy TAG
 • POW! It’s March/April
 • Receive notification of admission decisions
 • If you satisfied all criteria according to TAG, you’re in, hands down, if not, they made a mistake.
 • Party down, life is good =]

So it’s almost like an early acceptance, just very, very conditional. Best of luck to you.

fall back. i had 50 views.

most of you here is waitlist’s, few are still around even after being accepted, so more experienced and knowledgable. maybe dependable wasnt the word, what i meant was

“persons most contributed”

I’ve been admitted to UCI and UCSD for 2011-12 as a TAG student with 3.67 GPA. Btw, note that the minimum GPA requirement for TAG program has increased from 3.0 to 3.5 for UCSD this fall. And yes, you MUST apply for TAG program within a given month, which is a whole month of September, then you normally submit your UC application in November as a TAG student if you successfully have been accepted as one. Applying for the TAG program is super easy. It will take you only 30 min to an hour to fill out an online application. All you need to do is just to type in your personal and academic information. No essays or assessment tests. As a TAG student, you are generally considered being accepted early. However, keep in mind that only your admission is guaranteed, not your major. In this coming September you will never miss it as long as you are aware of the importance of it.

If you do not finish all of the lower division requirements for your major, are you ineligible for a TAG? I was planning to sign a TAG this September 2011 to apply for admission in Fall 2012 as a Human Bio major at UCSD, but I am not on pace to complete all of the lower division requirements listed on ASSIST.ORG. I will have completed everything on Assist.org except the UCSD equivalent of Physics 2C, which I will not be able to fit into my schedule. I have a 3.9 GPA and will complete the IGETC, but will not having that one class disqualify me from being able to sign the TAG? Will not completing that one Physics class prevent my admission into UCSD all together?

@gyrbsukh: The classes listed on assist.org aren’t necessarily prerequisites for admittance to the major. As far as required classes, unlike some of the other UCs, UCSD’s TAG just requires IGETC certification for most majors (including human bio).

However, since TAG doesn’t guarantee admittance to any particular major, it’s a good idea to finish as many of the classes you see on assist.org as possible. This will make it much more likely for you to get into the major of your choice. But if all you’re missing is a physics class, I wouldn’t be too concerned. I was accepted (via TAG) as an Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution major without completing any physics classes.

Of course, for questions like this, you can always call UCSD admissions to double check. Don’t rely on your CCC counselor, though; call UCSD and ask them directly.

UCSD cares more about completion of IGETC than having every major prereq complete. I made it into bioengineering at UCSD missing one prereq by having IGETC finished (and good grades).

Each UC is different, but I’m thinking you’ll be fine for UCSD =]

okay my question is really pertaining to more easier entrance UC’s,

=/= ucla,uc berkeley, uc san diego

The official UC TAG site does say: “By participating in a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program, you will receive early review of your academic records, early admission notification and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.”

If you look at their TAG matrix, it shows that all the UCs except UCI, UCSB, and UCSD offer this early evaluation. And yes, you file your TAG application in September, then your UC application in November.

Last year my TAG decision wasn’t posted until mid November (where UCI said yes, I’m TAG eligible, mark it on your application). Maybe they’ll be done sooner with people limited to one TAG this year.

What if at the time of applying (this September 2011) your gpa is lower than the required but will meet the requirement by the end of fall?
For example: I have a 3.45 but UCSD says if i have a 3.5 by the end of Fall 2011, I am eligible for TAG. I’m pretty sure I will be able to get around a 3.56 gpa by the end of the fall semester but if I’m applying in september (mid semester) how will i know…o.O
so stressful! ugh

hows that IV life? thats what they call it right?

You are good to go. Don’t worry

If you cannot get a 3.5 by the end of Fall 2011, your TAG will be denied, and of course, you lose your chance  That’s why you should consider carefully which school you want to TAG to bc this year you get only one chance :(
