♠ 2012 UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread ♠

Why are you transferring out? And to where?

I feel like im the only person whose decision is still pending on here… :(

I got into UCSB as a Pre-Economics and Accounting major, and all transfer students have to get a 2.85 (pretty much a B or better) in the last pre-req class ECON 10A (considering you have all other pre-reqs completed). I got a B- and was forced to switch majors which I’m not going to do. I applied to UCLA, UCB, UCD, UCI and UCSC. At this point I will go to any of those schools just to do Econ/Business but realistically I’m hoping for Davis or Santa Cruz. I had a 3.5 at CC and a 3.2 at UC, not sure about my chances but I’m in a REALLY crappy situation.

I probably should have warned you guys before you all applied because a lot of people don’t realize how unfair UCSB’s pre-majors are. If you want to do Economics and Accounting at UCSB, do not take your Accounting pre-reqs and apply for straight Economics. That way you can switch to Economics and Accounting at UCSB, then you’ll have the benefit of getting the GPA requirement over 3 courses as opposed to 1.

@ReachTheEnd

Wow I was in the same situation as you at UCSB in Fall 2011.

Good luck where ever you end up.

What is the URL for the portal? I received an open house email today but have yet to check my acceptance.

I’m still waiting oxy lol lets hope for this week! I don’t wanna wait anymore :/

@ReachTheEnd: I got in with Pre-Sociology…so if I get a B- in my last Soc class, I’ll have to switch majors? Is it mandatory?! What the heck

^^ Yeah what exactly does the pre mean? I got in as pre-communications.

Does UCSB mail the big envelopes?

^^ I just checked UCSB’s website and I found this [UC Santa Barbara General Catalog - Undergraduate Degrees](http://my.sa.ucsb.edu/Catalog/Current/UndergraduateEducation/UndergraduateDegreeList.aspx)

There are two asterisks next to communications and sociology(@ acoustickitty123). The asterisks mean

"** Admission to this major is contingent upon successful completion of all courses in preparation for the major with the designated grade-point average. Students who are completing these preparatory requirements will have “pre-major” status.*

@iDizzle: Thanks for the link! That kinda makes me nervous though…

Actually, this made me feel better “students must complete the courses in Areas A and B with a UC grade-point average of 2.3.” How hard could that be? lol. I mean if it was as hard as Bio classes, I’d understand…but Soc and Communications is a bit easier for it won’t be hard to attain a 2.3 lol

^^ So they mean the courses taken @ UCSB if we end up attending right? For some reason I thought they meant the pre-reqs, as in the “No course articulated” pre-reqs. lol

Yeah, the courses taken at UCSB! As stated “UC-GPA” :-)

Got DENIED from UCSB lol
Had a 3.66 GPA, 4.0 in major classes (political science), 2/3 pre-req done, math/english done. Oh well I got into UCSD with tag…LOL

received my admission packet today. accepted on 3/19

@lawlking it’s the usual big envelope

@nbz760 did you sign a TAG? Because I have a 3.3GPA with 2/3rds of my Pre-Reqs done for Poli Sci. Reading that made me super worried. =[

@Acoustickitty: Alright, all gravy than. The “pre” majors, does that mean they are impacted?

Cool! Hm…I don’t think so…good question though but I doubt it. If it was impacted, they would state so.
