General Comments:** Good Luck!!

Congrats!!
What time did you check to see if they changed “decision pending”?

Random scary thought. Ok so I only have 1 of 4 prereqs done and I was accepted. Are they expecting me to have them ALL done by the time I transfer in the Fall?

^^no, you’ll finish them at SB

^ if you can, take two of them this summer at whatever cc offers them. good idea to lighten the load during the coming two years. at least that is my theory. congratulations on your admittance.

@ lawlking: Ok thanks. Thats what I hoped for(and secretly knew) . Just scaring myself I guess. I think it’s just because all the schools say “conditional acceptance”, I assume that just means if you get a C or F?

@northbeach: Thanks! Yeah that would be ideal but It’s near impossible to get class at different CCC as a new student. I had to go in swinging my battle-axe the first day of the semester just to get the classes I have now. lol. I was going to go to SMC to finish the last prereq for UCLA but ain’t gona happen. all 3 of those prereqs were not offered at my school. So the only prereq I completed out of the 4 was coincidentally Stats. I guess that’s how important the english and math prereq are to the UCs.

^ i am considering “early start” at UCSB because i have the full 70 units of transferable credit from my CCC already. can’t transfer in any more units. i really want to graduate in two easy years.

^^ What is “early start”?

^^I think he meant starting at UC during this coming summer.

yes, UC schools have “Early Start” that includes classes in the summer. i plan to take two summer classes at the UC i end up going to. santa barbara offers early start and has courses in my field. i did have to update my fafsa and add UCSB to last years fafsa. then i got a cryptic note from UCSB, and i am not sure if they will accept the fafsa update or not. but i will find out on may 1st, when i make my final decision about where to go. i prefer to go to school during every possible semester and lighten my semester loads, to maintain a high GPA. just makes my life easier. guess we all have to find strategies that work for us.

For those who received the admit packet, there is a summer guide booklet if you want to start early in the summer!

I don’t know that much people willing to do summer start for any university. I’m giving it some thought.

^^^ Oooh I see. Cool! Yeah I probably will not take summer class, since I’ll probably use that time to move to wherever I decide to go. I’ll be transferring with 80 units but it probably doesn’t mean anything. You guys think its possible to graduate in less than 2 years? I do plan to take class every fall, winter, spring, summer quarter.

Didn’t you get your admit packet, iDizzle?

It would be possible depending on your major but with how much students are in any university and the budget cuts, just expect two years to graduate.

@ Iamsocal: I did. I admit it, I only looked at the pictures. lol. Yeah you’re right, I’m shooting for 2 years, maybe even sooner. I already spent 3yrs at ccc.

You got the summer booklet thing right?

First thing I did was look at the pictures, because the university is so good looking. Then after that, I started reading everything. Lol.

Yeah, I think majority of students want to graduate by 2 or earlier.

^^ lol. Yeah I just looked at it right now. I never read the title of that little booklet, just saw the pretty lake, the tower and those tiny little ducks. hahah.

@idizzle
we can transfer a maximum of 70 units, i will do that, and i think it is possible to complete a BA in exactly two years. but not sooner. i mean, we might have to shuffle availability of courses and such. it would be possible to do it in less time, but unusual.

i am so excited to start in the summer, i started at my current UC in the summer and it really gave me a foot up before the masses arrived in the fall. i already knew my way around and the school was really low key and relaxed. i am older, so i prefer having a bit more time to adjust and the time to get ahead. i am very mobile too, all my stuff is in storage so i can move in 24 hours. it will be so fun to start school at a UC. totally different than a CC. the library at UCSB is open till midnight, and 2AM during finals. okay, say i am nerdy, but i love that.

^^ Oh I see. Okay. Same here, I do feel some anxiety in new places so I like to be there super early just to know my way around. I hate being in a hurry. I also like the fact that the libraries are open much longer too!

I got my SB package. Pretty nice.

^^ IMO its the nicest looking one so far. SC’s looks like a kid made it. lol
