♠ 2012 UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread ♠

anyone still waiting? what’s this mean for us?

Yes, its a sign they haven’t seen your application yet.

chemE major still waiting … This is getting old!

@chelzmcnamara, hey youre an anthro major right? me too. What other schools did you apply too? I will most likely end up at UCSB, unless I somehow get into one of the “super reach, can’t hurt to try” schools I applied at. And even still, I will probably go just for the sake of the lower debt when I graduate.

^^^ I’m an anthro major! to a majority of the schools at least. I’m a comm major for SB, SD and Davis. comm is actually my first choice major though. The other UCs don’t offer it.

@iDizzle, I want the Anthro program at UCLA. they have a graduate program at the Getty institute. It looks amazing. What kind of comm? did you apply to any oos schools?

@norcaltransfer77: Me too! I applied as an anthro major to LA as well. Just communication studies. But I hear the comm programs at the CSUs are much better, especially CSUF’s PR program(which I got into). I’ve already been accepted to a handful of CSUs as a comm major. So I need to make the decision later this month since SIR deadline for CSU is May 1st. I did not apply to any oos schools. I would also like to get into the PR field doing applied anthro though. Do you know if any of the UCs have any specialization in applied anthro?

@northbeach, yeah i was not thrilled they plastered it all over the outside of the envelope. it makes me paranoid that someone would mess with it and i wouldn’t receive it.

@Norcaltransfer77
Yeah I am. I applied to UCSB UCI UCSD UCLA UCB and UCR. My UC GPA is a 3.4 so I’ll probably attend UCSB as well unless a miracle happens and I get into the top two. What about you?

So I just am checking to see I anyone knows about what time the decision site is updated? Ex: Every night at 5pm.

Hey, anyone here accepted to UCSB and planning to go? Oh, did anyone submit their SIR also?

@ anexia: At least it doesn’t look like UCSC’s admit packet. That one looks like a 5 yr old made it on MS paint. LOL

iDizzle do you think we have a chance for LA? We both have a pretty identical GPA

@ Chelzmcnamara: I don’t know but I really hope so. I’m glad that LA and Berkeley take our personal statements into account. I’m hoping they will see all the other things I’ve done BESIDES school. But you never know. My bro transferred last year and got into LA, Cal and Irvine but didn’t get into SB or SD. So I really don’t know what the reviewers are looking for. But my brother told me that LA and Cal are always looking for well rounded individuals with life experience when it comes to transfers. Hope hes right! I hope you get in!

What was his GPA and major? if you don’t mind me asking. Yeah I’m glad they take the Personal statement and ECs etc all into consideration. But I’m not so decorated with ECs and whatever so I’m not too confident. But yeah, I hope you get in too

Did anyone else get some email from UCSB saying that they need my class grade from a certain ccc I attended. However I never attended LA valley college what should I do?

Write back saying you never attended LAVC. I think the evaluator messed up. As long as your application doesn’t say you attended LAVC you should be fine

^ yeah thats what Im going to do write back saying this is a mistake. The link is ucop.edu is it a legit site?

Yeah it’s legit. I got a similar email from them a few weeks ago asking me about HS stuff.

@ Chelzmcnamara: He had a 3.7 GPA with TAP and TAG(when you could still apply it to all the schools). He did not get his first choice major for LA(psych) but he got his backup(Japanese). He was lucky though because he eventually changed to a business-econ major. He said he begged them everyday. I don’t have many EC’s either but I have tons of work experience with large companies, Edison int’l being one of them. lol
