** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

@Chelzmcnamara:

I had this problem too, don’t worry. I called Webgrants and they said it does not matter which school is listed, once you are given a reward you can update which school you are at and your award will be transferred…

None of the schools I listed on my fafsa showed up on web grants. Just my current ccc :(

I just ended up sending an email to see if they will respond to it without some automated message.

@ isabella23

yeah I thought so. thanks for clarifying it for me!

@ imunster how do you even check which schools are in the web grants site? you should re-check your Fafsa and see if you entered all the UCs you applied to

@iMunster:

Don’t worry, only one school will show up. You will be able to transfer your cal grant to wherever you’re accepted.

Yeah, checked fafsa twice and I listed only the 4 uc’s I applied to.

Thanks for clarrifying isabella.

@amidda, is UCSD the school listed on your webgrants?

and is there anyway I can check if webgrants or whatever place received my gpa verification?

@iMunster:

No problem! You can check by logging into webgrants and going to your application status. At the bottom of the page there will be a green check mark if your GPA verification was recieved.

^ Since my current CCC is listed as my school of attendance, the bottom just says GPA verification is not needed for renewal :/

I wouldn’t worry too much. As long as you have a school requesting a Cal Grant, and as long as you have your GPA submitted you should be fine. UCSD also sent me an e-mail a while back saying I listed them on my FAFSA. Here is a screen shot of my webgrant. http://www.amidda.com/downloadsdirectory/webgrants.png</a></p>

http://i44.■■■■■■■.com/1z2opps.jpg</a></p>

This is what mine looks like. I’m worried because what if my GPA didnt get submitted because they think I’m attending same school? Gahhh. Who would have thought there would still be stress after getting admitted. Haha

It doesn’t matter with renewals. Don’t worry so much. Not to mention, UCSD has the Blue and Gold. So really, no matter what, if your EFC is low enough, your tuition will be covered: to my understanding.

So receiving cal grant @ a CCC then transferring to a university and applying cal grant still counts as a renewal?

@iMunster it’s funny, I went from extreme excitement to extreme anxiety. I didn’t know I would have to get the transcripts from my high school, which are horrible, or have to get a TB test. The TB test is a problem because I will be in Japan over the summer. Not to mention, I have to reschedule my trip out of country to accommodate the housing phone calls on the 10th of June.

I m so nervous! All my friends are beginning to hear but me. I’m an EE major with a 3.6 transfer gpa. Tons of volunteer/ extra currics. Finished my IGETC and missing only two physics courses for the major. Tag’d my app and confirmed with UCSD transfer counselor that EE is not impacted. Should I be concerned?? I just got denied from Cal Poly and that was my back-up plan!! :(

@Amidda. Where are you getting the information for all these things they are asking for? Do you have a link?

@shrtcakez. I don’t think you should worry. There are a few people that have been admitted to EE with about the same GPA. Plus you have TAG, it’s all good.

Your GPA is being verified by the same school despite where you attend. Furthermore, the bracket that you qualify for with the Cal Grant is independent of the school you are attending. As long as you are approved for the Cal Grant, I would not worry. Just file a change of school after all the processing is finished. If you are truly concerned, talk to someone in financial aid at your campus who handles this daily. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Any time that I have had a doubt or concern, I have talked to multiple people from UCSD to confirm the correct course of action.

@ Amidda1217: Lucky! Japan is great! My brother is studying abroad in Japan for UCLA. He has to get like vitamin C injections because of the radiation. Luckily I got to go before the whole melt down thing.

A few different sites. First, the TB and transcript info came from the checklist on triton link. The housing call back dates and the housing deadlines came from the Village FAQ. Call backs start the week of June 13th. Furthermore, reading through the housing application threads on this site from previous years gave me an idea of how important it is to answer your phone. If they call, and you don’t answer, you lost your chance of a single room: which was already very low. Furthermore, housing callbacks are handled on a first come first serve basis, meaning that the first people to complete the 4-step process are the first people to pick their rooms.

@iMunster, thanks. Its is nice to get some positive response. I’ve been so stressed that I cannot focus at school lately!

@iDizzle yeah, I love it there. I try to go there every summer. My fiance is a UCSD grad and is currently paying off her loans at home in Japan: where she will remain until I graduate, at which time we will be able to afford for her to move here, or vice-versa dependent on who wins the presidency. So we alternate countries every 6 months so that we can see each other.
