Question for those who’ve auditioned at Elon: How long was the day? Sounded like there was a fair amount of waiting around between “events” – should we block out the entire day?

Our D auditioned at Elon last March. Her day started at 8 am and did not conclude until 7 pm. There was supposed to be a campus tour and observation of classes beginning at 8 am, but after we reported at our designated time, we found out the classes we were to observe had been cancelled because students were at SETC. We also could not get a regular campus tour because all tour guides were busy with the Fellows prospective students weekend which was occurring simultaneously. But you could do a self-guided tour if you wished. If Im remembering correctly, there was a general information session around noon and then the actual auditions began after that. some students began with dance while others began with acting or song. there was a good bit of waiting time. It was a very long day - I think the longest of all her auditions. The people were very nice, the campus was beautiful and the audition was enjoyable. It was just a very long day.

Post #42 addresses an audition day from this year.

Anyone auditioning this weekend or next?

S doesn’t have anything until 1/18 - PPU, 3 in a row. PPU, CCM and Otterbein. I think he will withdraw from Michigan now that he has the Rider acceptance, he loved that school.

MTMajorCook, did your child hear that they had been accepted to Rider after auditioning already?

I have a friend who heard on 12/23 that he was accepted into Rider’s dance program and academically. He’s still waiting to hear on theater. He applied to both for major/minor.

sydsim - Yes. Have you checked the online status on myrider? The “decision” will be updated, the academic scholarship will be added and then a mailing goes out. I know his friend is “still in consideration” and he heard of a few rejections in MT, I’m not sure how many they accepted from the early auditions.

Thanks so much. D got a letter stating that she was still under consideration, so it is encouraging that she wasn’t denied. I couldn’t remember exactly what they told us about decisions, when we were at the audition.

Congratulations!!!

Yay MTMajorCook’s son!!
And this was the audition where his dance clothes took a dip!!

Yep he danced his butt off in his Rider campus shorts LOL I believe at the audition they said decisions would be sent after the last audition in February so we were really surprised. Really can’t beat the location at Rider, he wants to see how CCM and Otterbein play out before he makes a final decision. Plus finances play a huge part in the decision for us and Rider is not cheap.

Congrats MTMajorCook! My son auditioned at Rider in the afternoon. After reading your post he also checked the MyRider portal to find that he is listed as “Decision Made-accepted” with an academic scholarship listed as well. They were pretty clear with the parents in the afternoon that decisions would not be made until after ALL students were auditioned and we wouldn’t hear until March. Is it possible that this is just the “academic” acceptance? I am afraid to jump the gun and get excited about this. Do you have any other info that you are willing to share?

My S got the “still in the pool” letter. They said they would let him know after auditions were completed in late February.

Songof6pence I sent you a message.

When S auditioned last year, the Academic acceptances were posted on MyRider but the artistic decision did not come until late March…and it came by snail mail. Maybe they’ve changed how they’re doing it this year?

Rider didn’t mention anything about snail mail this year. At the audition they stated the online status’ would be updated before any mail was sent out. S’s status was “pending” until his audition was complete and then it was updated to the below:

Admission Type: Early Action
Admission Status: Decision Made
Decision: Admitted Early Action
Current Program: Bachelor of Fine Arts
Level: Undergraduate
Program: BFA in Musical Theatre

S spoke with Robin Lewis a few days after the audition and Robin emailed him asking if S checked his online status, when it was updated S responded and Robin said “congrats” so we felt pretty comfortable but S will email admissions just to be sure, cause now I’m nervous.

Well this is different so it sounds like a definite YES!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks MTMajorCook! My S has the same thing on his portal except his says admitted: Deposit required and instead of Eary Action it says Standard. Please keep us posted if you hear from admissions. I’ll have my son do the same.

songof6pence-I spoke with a secretary at Rider Admissions yesterday, she said my son’s account that says “Admitted Early Action” is an acceptance, not just academic.
He will receive an admissions packet in the mail shortly with housing and scholarship information shortly.

Thanks SField!! And Congrats!!

very cool! Thanks SField= and congrats! Sounds like Rider admitted quite a few boys from the first audition. Great way to start off the new year.
