Great audition day!

I was really happy and excited to be at Hartt today! I felt as though the audition was well run and the students were VERY welcoming and informative! Everyone seemed to be relaxed and having a great time! Can’t wait to see what happens from here! :)

Congrats mvic! Best wishes to you. :0)

we were there too. Very orgainized and welcoming. I have only heard good things about their programs.

We’re going at the end of January. Any tips on where to stay, transportation, the flow of the day, etc? We’ll either fly or take the train.

Are you renting a car? It’s awkward if not because there’s really not much in the way of hotels nearby and the public transportation isn’t great. But-- people were very friendly, the head of the program spoke with more honest feeling for art than I’ve seen almost anywhere else. D applied as an actor-- but I believe MT kids began with a group dance call, then individual auditions.

MVIC - what instrument? My daughter is graduating from Hartt this year as a flute performance major. It has been a wonderful 3 and 1/2 years for her so far.

Mater- I highly suggest the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown Hartford! I even remember the address (440 Assylum Street). It is only abt 10 mins from the school-and the taxi fair is only abt 8 dollars. It is also located right downtown, next to union station, a beautiful park, and the capitol building! (great view) Also, my mom and I flew and we recieved transportation directly to our hotel!(we took the city bus and they dropped us off right in front) As for the flow of the day-MT kids did begin with a dance call! After registering, current students opened up a couple of dance rooms for everyone to stretch and warm up and specifically practice our pirouettes!lol After warming up, the dance call cinsusted of ballet barre work, across the floor jazz combinations, and a combination to the music of Hairspray! it was a blast! Then we went in groups of threes to do our song and monologue. A current student introduces you, you slate your songs/monologue-and do your stuff! There was a short Q&A after my audition but nothing frightening. It was a over great day! And Very well ran. The current students (acting and MT) were constantly making themselves available to answer questions or just talk! Sorry if i’m just blabbing info that you already know! lol

Gwen Fairfax- MT kids do begin with a group dance call, which was probably the highlight of the entire audition for me! It was so much fun! and my mom said the same-about the head of the program. All around genuine people!

BEK- no instrument! lol I auditioned for the musical theatre program-and I’m still waiting to hear of an admission decision, but my spirits are high and Hartt is such a great school!

sorry about the grammatical and spelling mistakes…lol i guess proofreading what i wrote would’ve helped.

What questions did they ask you? They only asked if i had questions about the program but thats it. I know your not sposed to read into anything but i do anyways. They may have known all they wanted because of my resume or essay or something haha

beutifullifels- pretty much the same! lol except they asked if my travel to Ct and the school were ok etc. (since i had mentioned earlier that i had traveled from louisiana) lol but that was it-nothing special. And i do the same thing-but i honestly believe its just oo hard not to read into everything with these auditions!
