I used direct hits in a flash. Great book for the 2012 exam. But the collegeboard did indeed revamp the exam. The new exam layout is already out. Now it has only 36 questions in 35 minutes. And more heavily based on the essays now.

ur right! I guess they need time to field test it, and let teachers restructure their school curriculums. In my opinion, the revamp exam is worse than the one right now lol.

@dirkslam, I agree. Teachers wouldn’t be used to the new format. I also think the new format is very “college board” with the sets almost like an SAT for US History. As if that exam isn’t hard enough.

I don’t see the need for them to change the exam. 80 multiple choice questions spanned over eras should accurately measure student performance. Besides there’s also 3 essays to test true knowledge of the subject matter.

@darthpwner Ah, lucky. APUSH is one of the most boring classes at my school.

Unfortunately, the teachers are not so good. One of the teachers teachers really lazily, so most of her students decide to self-teach even while enrolled in the course. Students are required to take pages and pages of notes-and they’re usually not used for studying. Everything in the class is pure memorization. AP Euro, on the other hand, is kind of fun. It’s not a difficult course either, but that’s for a different thread and a different time lol.

I’m taking it! Hopefully, at least… I got my schedule today, and sophomores aren’t supposed to take APUSH before taking Honors USH, but I snuck it on my course request form anyways… They let me in! But since I wasn’t expecting to be put in, I didn’t get the summer work. So I guess I’ll be emailing the teacher today with about 2 weeks left until school. Now I’m like scared to even go to school the first day, hahaha

Has anybody started reading the textbook yet? For summer homework, I need to read the first 3 chapters, but damn, it’s boring. It’s taking forever :(.
Advice on how to read efficiently?

@FromNorCal Take notes, it helps you read actively and look for key information. Keep it section to about one side of a page of notes and keep a folder or binder.

This is my school’s first year doing APUSH! Really excited to be apart of the first class. I’m happy to be apart of this forum! Let’s all make 5’s you guys XD
