That is likely true, but they don’t mean applications that are incomplete on the day after the deadline. They mean application files that are incomplete on, say, January 1.

If you are really worried, you should send your scores again now. But if you wait a week or so, you may see that they will be reported as having arrived.

Yeah, my transcripts haven’t gotten to my schools yet, and I had them sent the 12th. I called Sloan-Kettering yesterday and they said they start reviewing applications anyway-- they say as long as something’s post-marked by the 1st, they know it’s kind of out of our control.

A little nerve-wracking since they’ve had plenty of time to get to my schools. I can’t imagine that all 5 somehow didn’t make it. I think biotechstudent is probably right-- maybe they’re just sitting in massive piles of applicant materials at each schools, or maybe my undergrad fails at addressing envelopes.

Does anyone know when MIT will send out an email to confirm if one application is complete? I just can’t check if the school received my GRE or transcript online.

I dunno about the application strategy but I’m already dreading the waiting process now. Being an international student it’s going to be even longer.
Off topic, what do you guys think about the Stony Brook University & CSHL programs? Stony Brook’s program is really not that great but they give you a opportunity to work with CSHL faculty members. Besides, no one actually talks of CSHL in the same breath as, say, Harvard, Rockefeller etc.

Any thoughts? May I stand a chance although I am an international applicant?

@biophd Look at last year’s thread… people with much weaker numbers than yours were accepted somewhere… no one expects you to have papers as an undergrad so don’t sweat that. If you have good LORs I think you have a great shot.

Hey everyone, I don’t think that you’re at a disadvantage as an international applicant compared to US applicants. Graduate schools tend to treat both international and domestic applicants equally, unlike most other countries’ education systems. However, this is not the case for all individual graduate programs. By and large, though, unlike medical school, US graduate schools are very open to considering international applicants.
