My son was offered an appt. Nov 7, which he accepted Nov 24. But as parents, we have heard nothing and have no idea what the deposit is, orwhen it's due. Any ideas?

Also, can they use non-designated scholarships for this deposit?

The deposit is $2000. It is due before June 26th. Information on this subject such as where to send it as well as the use of scholarships is found in the West Point Instructions for Candidates Offered Admission. You can find this document as a PDF on your son’s portal. Good luck and go class of 2013!

You should have received several envelopes of info by now about the process. Your overprotective mother may have intercepted them (joke). We have received lots of forms, instructions, etc. Better call your ALO to make sure everything is on track.

a deposit? they are gonna charge us?? what for??

The money you pay helps defer some of the initial expenses (that come out of your cadet pay). For example, everything you are issued: uniforms, coats, boots, helmets, computers…you don’t make enough the first year to pay it all, so your paying a small fee allows you to keep more of your cadet pay. Those who choose not to pay due to hardship recieve smaller monthly paychecks.

Nvm. It is $2000. You just saved my parents $900. haha
