i dont have $2900 to spare. What should I do? Do we get the money back? Should I take out a loan to pay it?

I believe the sheet said that they do give scholarships for cadets in need. You just have to call USMA and explain. Shouldn't be a problem, but I would work on it as soon as you get a chance just to be safe.

Is that included in the 6500 or so loan we take at the beginning of the year?

Let them know. If they don't give you a scholarship, they can just prorate it against your cadet account deposit.

ada I called WP and they said dont worry about it, just show up.

if you dont pay it they will just take $60 (at least thats what it was for 09) out of your check all four years...but dont worry about it...they will handle it all..

the army will always find a way to screw me.

the army will always find a way to screw me. ----
ADAitfliesitdes

THEY are allowing you to attend the finest Army Officer program and you have the decency to say your being screwed? THEY will forego the up front money of $2,900 and lend this to you interest free and you have the decency to say your being screwed?
I hope my son doesn't become your friend at WP : I really don't want you to influence him with your ungraditude. You need to really do a lot of soul searching and either stop kidding around or mature a little and count your blessings.

i hope he doesn't either. i spent a little less than half a decade in the army only to:

1) get stuck in el paso when my unit mobilized
2) have a my friend hurt in iraq
3) having tricare decided that "pneumonia" doesn't qualify as emergency care, thus making me pay out of pocket. at the time i was E4, and E4's dont make that much.

yes, i think i can say that the army will always find a way to screw me.

"I hope my son doesn't become your friend at WP"

HAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

AD - welcome to the wonderful world of insurance companies!! Do you know how many times and how many years my family has had to argue/fight to get some medical claim paid?????????? Much, much more than once!!! Unfortunately, it doesn't run smoothly. Did you try to appeal the decision?? If you are so bitter about the army, I don't understand why you want to go to West Point? I think you have to get used to changes and not always getting what you want. It is a shame that a friend was hurt in Iraq. Unfortunately, we are at war and a sad fact that we will have more casualties. If you are this unhappy before going in.....what's going to happen later on? Maybe you should rethink your decision and find your Utopia, maybe the corporate world, because nobody gets screwed there. Only the army screws people! The rest of us schmucks never get screwed over.

Wow, that's how the Army screwed someone?? Stuck in El Paso -- if that's in the top three, I'd say the army was a pretty good deal for ADA. "A friend hurt in Iraq" -- better that then family members/friends killed on 9-11 or in Iraq or anywhere! The Army screwed ADA because his FRIEND got hurt in a war?? It's sad but I think the friend has more to complain about but I'm guessing he isn't complaining one bit. As to Pneumonia, MofBTT said it all. I had Pneumonia twice and insurance did nothing for me either. Could it be that ADA wasn't serious?

Dear R.E.M.F. - I have read a number of your recent posts and have elected not to repond, however, I couldn't let this inmature dribble go by. I must side with RockyMnt and hope that if you really are going to go to West Point in the Class of 2010, that my child not only doesn't become one of your friends, I hope you are not even in the same company, as your negativity will not be needed or desired. Based upon your recent posts, I think it's a safe bet that your heart and mind are not in the right place to be going to West Point. Could you possibly find anything else to ***** about? I have my doubts but, if you really are going to be a member of West Point's Class of 2010, congratulations on your acceptance. You have at least done something right! You now have 19 and a butt days to check your heart, your mind and to leave your miserable attitude in Texas.

ADA:

Boo hoo hoo.

I'll bet your CSM would like to know the stuff you've been spreading here.

ADA. My son is still on the waiting list for the class of 2010. If you don't like the Army that much, why don't you give up your spot and let the kids that would give their right arm a chance to get in. By the way, I am in the private sector and you know what, I fight with our insurance carrier over health coverage issues every year, as do the majority of other folks in my office. It's called life in the real world. The more claims the insurance company denies, the more money the insurance company makes...

ADA I know theres lots of parents who think you're whining, but I'm gonna be proud to be in your class. I think you've earnt the right to b^tch a little bit. The prior service soldiers like yourself help the Corps as a whole. I think people should cut him a little slack, everyone complains and often times, about much stupider things.

i have heard more than once from usma cadets and army soldiers jokingly say the army screwed them over again, "get it in writing or they'll screw ya over!". i dont think ada was really complaining or regretting chosing to go to west point... relax....

Some prior service would say he's a whiner, too. ADA, you've got no sense of how to adapt what you say to your audience. Cussing out the army to your immediate friends who know what kind of person you are....no big. Doing it to a bunch of civilians including parents, people in the academy, and future classmates who don't know you from spit is clueless. Your are making priors look bad! BTW, Tell the truth, dude.

I still contend ADA is a fraud and phony as i've stated previously. If he isn't what is the over/under on when he DOR's and is returned to active duty?

You aren't called the boss for nothing. You've got him right.
